The NFL has seen many great players, and Dak Prescott is one of them. He is not just a great quarterback, but a person of character as well. The 30-year-old athlete is famous for his social work and stance against colon cancer. Now, the star player has again grabbed eyeballs as he has spoken against colon cancer once again.
Born in July 1993, Prescott joined hands with $350 million-rich actor Ryan Reynolds to talk about colon cancer. He was recently featured in a promotion video for a colon cancer test kit called ‘Cologuard’. The video of the NFL star raising awareness against the disease is going viral. They named the video “Talking Sh*t with Dak Prescott”. It was in collaboration with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and Lead From Behind.
The 6-foot-2 player began the video talking about how he gets a lot of “sh*t” as a quarterback. He then went on to introduce the viewers to the test kit and tell them the right way to use it. After that, Dak Prescott encouraged people to use the kit to clear up all their doubts.
“First, if you are 45 or older, talk to your doctor about getting screened for colon cancer. Then, if you are prescribed a home screening kit like this… Follow the instructions on collecting and shipping your sample. And in about 2 weeks, you’ll have the results. It’s that easy to get screened for colon cancer, and make your feelings abundantly clear,” he said.
This video by Dak Prescott about colon cancer awareness is undoubtedly a great step. The 2-time Pro Bowl never fails to work for a good cause.
Dak Prescott lost his mother Peggy to Colon Cancer
Apart from his NFL career, if there’s one thing Dak Prescott is famous for, it’s colon cancer awareness. The 238 lb star has made it his mission to inform people about the disease. Last year, during the NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats” campaign, Prescott decided to talk about colon cancer.
Raising awareness about this disease became his mission after the Dallas Cowboys star lost his mom to colon cancer. When Dak Prescott was playing college football for Mississippi State University, his mom, Peggy, died of the disease in 2013. The QB once mentioned that his mother’s journey helped him understand the importance of cancer screening.
“Watching her journey highlighted the importance of providing access to cancer screening, education & survivorship resources. I’m happy to help amplify that message,” he said.
After his mother’s death, Dak Prescott started his Faith Fight Finish Foundation. He named the foundation after the three words (faith, fight, and finish) that his mother often talked about. The foundation works to do research on the disease and help people who are suffering from it.
Considering his dedication, the American Cancer Society made the Cowboys‘ star their global ambassador in 2023. This further shows that everyone is noticing the work Dak Prescott is doing while creating awareness for colon cancer. Ever since his NFL debut in 2016, Prescott has been popular for his charitable work. Now, it’ll be worth watching what more the star player does for the community’s awareness.
