Rayne Dakota Prescott, more popularly known as Dak Prescott, is a quarterback who plays for the NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football for the Mississippi State Bulldogs football team (Mississippi State University). Prescott was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in round four of the 2016 NFL Draft as the 135th overall pick.
Dak Prescott was stellar in his college career and won multiple accolades as well. His first major success came after winning the Liberty Bowl in 2013 against the Rice Owls in a 44-7 win, and he was named the MVP. He was also named to the 2013 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll in the same season.
In 2014, awards came galore for Dak Prescott, as he won the Honorable Mention All-American by Sports Illustrated, the 2014 First-Team All-SEC team, the Conerly Trophy, and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Dak Prescott was brought up by his mother and remembers her a lot
Dak Prescott’s mother, Peggy, unfortunately, passed away in 2013 from colon cancer. Moreover, she was just 51 years old when this sad incident occurred. Peggy had three sons and one daughter.
Dak Prescott spoke about his mother’s absence in an interview with Fox Sports in 2018. He said that it’s not an easy situation, and it’s difficult to wake up every morning with his mother gone. Prescott said that his mother had some expectations of him, and he carries them.

“It’s not that easy when you lose your mom. You have to look yourself in the eye every morning and realize that you have expectations from an angel, and you have to carry those expectations out every day,” Dak Prescott said.
Peggy Carter had a very tough life after she got divorced from Dak Prescott’s father, Nathaniel Prescott. Moreover, she had to take on the responsibility of raising her children and working at a travel plaza. Prescott’s childhood was full of struggle as they resided in a trailer.
Dak Prescott’s father, Nathaniel, is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and is very proud of the fact that Dak plays for his favorite team. Nathaniel previously said that Dak Prescott had said during his initial days that he would play as a quarterback for the Cowboys and made it come true. An interesting thing to note is that Peggy is not Nathaniel’s first marriage. However, he had a son with his first wife.
In honor of his mother, Dak Prescott started the Faith Fight Foundation. It is a non-profit organization whose work is dedicated to the support of underprivileged people. Dak Prescott also wears jersey number 4 as a tribute to his mother, who was born on September 4.
