SUMMARY
- In May 2022, Sunny got arrested for a deadly DUI crash.
- During a podcast episode, she talked about her life in prison.
Sunny is hardly a new name for professional wrestling fans, having become somewhat well-known during the Attitude Era. She was the first notable female performer to become a big star and one of the most successful WWE managers, yet many fans don’t realize this. Her time as a female superstar in the WWE is still regarded as one of the most captivating runs ever.
Sunny appears to have been greatly impacted by aging over time. She used to be well-known for her glitzy appearance and sense of style, but these days she barely resembles the person she once was. Sunny, the company’s first diva, exuded confidence like no other woman in the WWE, but her remarkable career ended abruptly, leaving a lasting impact.

Sunny has been embroiled in multiple court proceedings for offenses like DUI, breaking protection orders, and driving while suspended due to her behavior outside of the ring. Sunny was arrested in May 2022, which led her to serve 17 years in prison. She is currently serving her sentence and is a shadow of her former self. Sunny spoke about her prison life in a podcast with Birds Call.
Sunny stated how alone she is in prison and that nobody has the guts to talk to her in person. “Nobody really comes to me and says anything … but then I’ll hear people talking about me,” stated the former WWE star. The 51-year-old also stated how she misses men and hasn’t been physical for about 22 months. “It’s already been 22 months without it, and let me tell you, it’s rough,” said the former WWE Superstar.

Sunny further stated how things have been worse as there is no male interaction in the prison. But she also said that there was no way she was going to acquire herself an inside girlfriend. The former Diva is lonely and needs someone to accept her as she is.
Various controversies surrounding Sunny’s life
The WWE’s charismatic diva was fired from the organization in 1998 following rumors that she had a painkiller problem. She has dabbled with other wrestling promotions, such as WCW and smaller indie ones. Even after leaving the company, Sunny surprised everyone by making multiple appearances in the WWE.
She appeared on WWE programming on a few occasions before being officially inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011. In addition to her professional wrestling career, Sunny had a lengthy career in the adult market. The former WWE star reportedly used drugs heavily when she was signed to numerous different wrestling firms after being let go from the Stamford-based promotion.
Beginning in 2012, when Sunny was detained five times in one month, she faced numerous legal issues. After breaking a protection order in 2013, she spent more than four months in jail. In 2015, Sytch faced three DUI arrests. She broke the terms of her probation and was imprisoned for an additional seven months in 2018 after committing two more DUIs.
In 2019 and 2020, she was incarcerated twice more on offenses ranging from domestic abuse to a second DUI. When Sunny’s Mercedes-Benz ran a red light on March 25, 2022, it collided with a Kia Sorento. A 75-year-old guy lost his life in the process, and Sunny only suffered minor wounds. It was discovered later that her blood alcohol content was 3.5 times higher than what was allowed.
Sunny was jailed as a result, although she was later freed on a $227,500 bond. Reviewing her prior records, the authorities declared her to be a community threat, and she was sent back to prison. The former WWE star entered a plea of not guilty to nearly all of the allegations brought against her in August 2023. However, she is now serving 17 years in prison for all the deeds she did.
