SUMMARY
- Cyberpunk 2077's last big update was 2.1 which fixed and added a lot of content to the game.
- While 2.1 was deemed last, it had a lot of bugs, which are being fixed soon.
After announcing that Cyberpunk would not get any further updates back in December 2023, the developer has announced a new upcoming hotfix. While the announcement of no more updates had left the fans disappointed, the new announcement has sparked some hope.
It is no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 had a troubled and bumpy launch when it was first released in 2020. Nonetheless, CD Projekt Red managed to get the game back on track, and since then it has been one of the most well-supported games. The devs had made sure to keep the game fresh with more than a dozen significant patches in three years.
The most recent update that the game received was Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0, which arrived alongside its first-ever expansion Phantom Liberty in September 2023. Update 2.0 altered many of the game’s core systems, implementing more than 200 changes. However, along with the massive revamp it also came with some bugs.
Cyberpunk 2077 to get a new update
CD Projekt Red recently confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 is all set to welcome yet another update next week. They also shared a few details about the upcoming patch. The developer’s announcement also welcomes the news for fans who have been experiencing several issues after the previous update for Cyberpunk 2077.
That being said, CD Projekt Red did address most of those issues after the release of the update, it seems like they aren’t done yet polishing the game. At least that’s what their recent announcement implies.
⚙️ We are aiming to have a new patch for #Cyberpunk2077 out sometime next week. It will tackle the most common issues reported by players, including finisher animations.
Stay tuned for more info coming after the weekend.

The company shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) revealing that yet another Cyberpunk 2077 patch is being worked on. Additionally, the post also revealed that it is slated for release during the next week. According to the developers, the update aims to address “the most common issues” faced by players, even after consequent fixes.
Considering the fact that historically, CDPR is not known to release patches on weekends, fans can safely expect the next update to arrive between Monday, January 29, and Friday, February 2. Interestingly, the contents of Cyberpunk 2077’s first 2024 update were also briefly leaked in early January.
Will this be the last Cyberpunk 2077 patch?
In December 2023, CD Projekt Red announced that it was done with Cyberpunk 2077 after the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 2.1 update. However, its latest announcement of a new update goes against what they said.
We have one more patch for Cyberpunk 2077 up our sleeve & it’s called Update 2.1!
It arrives along with the Ultimate Edition on December 5th.

Thus it would be safe to assume that if the players come across other critical issues in the future, CDPR could possibly come forward to fix them. That is exactly what it kept doing with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, even after it was done releasing content for the 2015 game.
That being said, on the flip side, if Cyberpunk 2077’s first 2024 update does its job well and players are content with the game, it might turn out to be the last patch. A few days ago the developer also confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, codenamed Orion is presently in pre-production. There is still a decent amount of time till the players get the sequel.
