Cyberpunk 2077 gets its last major update
December 5, 2023, saw the release of Cyberpunk 2077’s final major update. CD Projekt Red, the game’s developer, will now be focusing on Orion, the sequel, and Polaris, the upcoming mainstream Witcher game. This was first suggested in a post on X by global community director Marcin Momot, who said that CD Projekt Red had “one more patch for Cyberpunk 2077” up its sleeve.
Furthermore, in an interview with IGN, CD Projekt Red stated that Update 2.1, which comes with Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, is the game’s last significant update after three years. In addition to intensifying work on its upcoming Witcher core game, codenamed Polaris, CD Projekt Red is refocusing on the entirety of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
This was definitely implied by the developer in their November 2023 financial earnings report, which revealed that about half of its workforce was now working on Witcher 4 and the Orion project after the release of the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty.
Though CD Projekt Red is constructing a brand-new facility in the United States to produce the sequel, developing Orion is more difficult than developing the upcoming Witcher game. A core group of ten Cyberpunk franchise leaders, including game director Gabe, are already there, according to CEO Adam Kiciński’s November 2023 statement. Although some hires have been made, the team is still in its early stages.
Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1
Users will be able to travel between 19 destinations over five railway lines by using the in-game metro service with the update 2.1 release. With the use of a unique card, players can explore Night City’s sites by using the public transportation system. As long as the romance path has been successfully finished, players can now extend romantic invitations to their partners to their in-game apartments.
Improved monster fights, binoculars for sightseeing, and the replayability of auto races are among the additional changes. Updates to weapon balance, lighting, and visuals are also included, along with new bikes.
