William Alves’ season has ended on a hugely disappointing note. Alves, who plays for Leicester City, suffered a torn ACL injury during the FA Youth cup match against Wolverhampton. The 17-year-old midfielder suffered a horror tackle during the match, which ended his season all of a sudden.

Will Alves made his first senior appearance for the Foxes’ senior side in Leicester’s 3-0 win in the Carabao Cup against MK Dons. He was also in the starting lineup for Leicester’s match against the Wolves during the third round of the FA Youth Cup. Leicester won 3-1 during the extra time in what was a very cagey game. However, the victory came at a cost as Will Alves, one of Leicester’s brightest prospects, suffered a devastating injury.
Who injured 17-year-old Will Alves?
Will Alves was the victim of a vicious tackle made by Wolves defender Caden Voice. Caden plays as a defender in Wolverhampton’s Under-23 side. Caden has also registered 17 appearances for the Wolves in the Under-18 Premier League. He became famous for all the wrong reasons after his dreadful tackle against Alves has gone viral on the Internet.

Caden was immediately shown a red card by the referee after the tackle. He forcefully stuck his boots onto Will Alves’s knee, not making any attempt whatsoever to win the ball. Caden has been facing the wrath for the vile incident, with many professional soccer stars criticizing the young defender. Leicester coach Brendan Rogers is furious at Caden Voice, branding his tackle as “one of the worst challenges I have seen.“

Alves tore his ACL and will be out for the season
Will Alves posted an update on his Instagram account where he announced that he had suffered a torn ACL. Alves confirmed that this injury has sidelined him for the rest of the season. He said that the past week was “full of ups and downs.” Alves had just made his second appearance for the Foxes’ senior side against Wolves when he became a victim of the shocking tackle.

Coach Brendon Rogers announced that Alves would start his rehab process in the coming weeks, which will be followed by surgery. Rogers wished Alves a “speedy recovery“. Rogers also said, “It’s such a shame for a young player who’s 17, who’s really making his way in the game and making his mark in training and the way he’s been.“

Lots of soccer fans have shared their anger at this incident, condemning Caden Voice, the defender who made the tackle. Even James Maddison, Leicester City player and England international, called the tackle “unacceptable“, and said that he was “devastated for young Will.“
