SUMMARY
- Apple Music exposes the music taste of Lionel Messi.
- The playlist of Messi consists of Latin songs.
Lionel Messi has played more than 1000 matches in his professional career for club and country. Just like any other soccer player, the Argentine listens to music to get into the zone before going onto the field for his warm-up. Thanks to Apple Music, fans can now get a glimpse of the music taste of the Inter Miami superstar. The music platform released a playlist to reveal the favorite songs of the Argentine.
The playlist was released on February 20, which got the conversation going among the Argentine fan base. The playlist had a healthy mix of genres and a wide variety of artists. Some names were expected on the list, while others raised eyebrows within the fan base of Messi.
Lionel Messi’s warm-up playlist is heavy on Latin music
Messi hails from Argentina, South America, which is why it isn’t shocking that his playlist has many songs from Latin music. The playlist had hit songs from Bad Bunny, Maluma, and J Balvin. Maluma was expected on this playlist, considering that Messi has a close relationship with the singer. The Inter Miami superstar has even appeared in a music video for Maluma at the home stadium of Inter Miami.

Apart from Latin music, there were some rap songs on the playlist for famous artists such as Rick Ross, J. Cole, and Drake. Classic tracks from U2, Gorillaz, AC/DC, and Coldplay also showed up, which showed diversity in the playlist.
This playlist was officially promoted by Apple Music, which raised some doubts among fans that this playlist might just be a promotional gimmick for the music platform. Apple has been heavily involved with Lionel Messi since he made a move to America with Inter Miami. Apple TV recently released a documentary on the shock move, and now Apple Music is using the Argentine for a playlist.
Lionel Messi’s music taste was first revealed back in 2017
This isn’t the first time Lionel Messi has collaborated with a music platform to release his favorite songs. Back in 2017, the Argentine collaborated with the music platform Deezer for FC Barcelona to share his favorite songs at the time.

The playlist had a heavy Latin influence again, with music from J. Balvin, Maluma, Nicky, and many more. The Argentine singer, Drear Mar I, made the most appearances with six songs. There weren’t many English songs on the playlist, apart from a solo effort from Bruno Mars with 24K Magic. It is clear that, in comparison, in 2024, Messi will have more English music as compared to 2017. Fans can call it the Miami impact.
