Mikey Williams‘ future in basketball may come to an abrupt halt based on various incidents that took place in March 2023. It has been upsetting to witness such great potential being put at risk of losing a bright future in the sport. Williams has a major following on social media and has made a lot of money while playing basketball. He was so good that he was signed by Puma for a multi-year deal.
In March, Mikey was involved in a shooting at his home in Jamul, San Diego County. It was stated that he had been approached by unwanted visitors at his $1.2 million mansion. Things got heated and it resulted in a major confrontation before midnight. Williams was booked for firing at a car with passengers in it. Luckily, even though multiple bullets hit the car, nobody was injured in the process.

The Tigers are currently practicing and preparing for the upcoming season. Practice commenced in September but Williams was not allowed to participate. Memphis has restricted him from utilizing team facilities despite being a part of the roster now as well. But Memphis will be careful with what they do moving ahead. They plan on waiting until the case is resolved before deciding on his future with the basketball program.
But this isn’t all about his case. A district attorney added that he may face more charges. While witnesses did not see him firing the gun, a few witnesses have revealed he threatened to kill the group of people. This could be used against him and add to the charges being placed against him. However, the gun that he allegedly used was not found at his residence while the search warrant was being served. Instead, a handgun along with other weapons were found.
