NBA 2K24 has surpassed Overwatch 2 as the game with the lowest rating on Steam. The game was released on September 08,2023 and it is the latest 2K Sports simulation. The game hasn’t received as well as the publisher could have wanted. NBA 2K24 is based on the popular basketball league, NBA.
The developer bragged that it was the series’ most aesthetically pleasing game as a part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations. But many players felt that wasn’t enough to make up for the lack of recent improvements. They felt that there is no new element in the game. A lot of criticism has been directed at the new NBA 2K game, especially on Steam, where players have given it an “Overwhelmingly Negative” rating.
Recent user reviews on Steam for the game have reached an all-time low, with only roughly 8% users recommending it. This is sufficient to displace Overwatch 2 by Blizzard as the platform’s lowest-rated title.
Steam records numerous negative reviews for NBA 2K24
The website Steam 250 keeps track of user reviews for each Steam game. Although the site is most widely recognized for its selection of the top 250 Steam titles, it also keeps a “Hall of Shame” with a list of the platform’s least well-liked games. At the very top of that list right now is NBA 2K24.
It is just a little worse than Overwatch 2, which currently has a Steam rating of around 9%. Along with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remake, they also have the unfortunate distinction of being one of the only three AAA titles in the bottom 10.
While some of these issues are specific to the PC version of NBA 2K24, not all console users are having a wonderful experience either. The Xbox Series X version has a Metacritic rating of 61, while the PS5 version has an uninspiring score of 68. NBA 2k24 received 2.4/10 from users on PS5 and Series X, which isn’t much better than the evaluations the game received on Steam.
The lack of fresh functions and the lack of next-gen efficiency on PC appear to be the most frequent concerns when reading NBA 2K24’s Steam Reviews. Many gamers believed that 2K and Visual Concepts had done the barest minimum on the PC version, and one player called it a “copy-paste” of the game from the previous year.
Other concerns were the lack of a narrative in MyCareer, multiplayer hacking, and the rise of microtransactions. NBA 2K24 also has a significant bug issue, and many users report crashing.
