Rockstar Games is on its way to delivering one of the greatest games of all time. Ever since the developer announced that Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 was in development back in February 2022, fans have been jumping with excitement.
The excitement kept increasing as over almost two years countless rumors and leaks about the game kept surfacing on the internet. The enthusiasm among fans heightened when the developers dropped the first-ever trailer of the upcoming game on December 4, 2023.
Ever since, fans have been obsessed with the 90-second-long video, which broke records to become the most-watched non-music video in 24 hours. Naturally, after a long wait, the trailer left everyone stunned. Several elements in the video made the fans go gaga.
Fans impressed by GTA 6 realism
The most significant and impressive thing about the trailer that left fans spellbound was the graphics. The game is set in the fictionalized version of Miami, named Vice City, and was reportedly in development for over 14 years. The trailer features near-realistic graphics with a few real-life references too.
GTA6 graphics have genuinely reached a point where they’ve eclipsed reality imo. You look at GTA6 and real life side by side, you can just about barely tell which ones real. But GTA6 looks so much prettier and stylised while also being hyper realistic. pic.twitter.com/wTZUok1Fn7

Several fans lauded the developer Rockstar for achieving never-before-seen levels of realism while depicting the open world. A post on X by a user read, “GTA VI’s Vice City is taking realism to the next level with a massive city, stunning water physics, bustling beaches, and immersive lighting at night. Can’t wait to experience it all!” Some fans even say that GTA 6 graphics look better than real life.
Notably, the game reportedly uses Rockstar’s native Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE 9) game engine. It is the most advanced and updated game engine out there. It is reported that Rockstar had hired an additional 20 engineers just to work on the game’s Water Physics so that it could look as real as possible.
Real-life references in GTA 6
To make it more life-like, Rockstar didn’t just stop at the realistic graphical leap. They also added real-life references to add a realistic touch. A Reddit user, ‘Two_Inches_Of_Fun’ shared side-by-side comparisons of real news footage and clips from Rockstar’s animated GTA 6 trailer to compare the level of realism.
The GTA VI trailer references some very real (and strange) Florida moments.

A number of bizarre things seen in the GTA 6 Trailer 1 are actually parodies of real-life instances, and Rockstar has made no mistakes replicating them virtually. These include references to the hammer lady, a neighborhood nude man watering his garden, the crocodile pool wrangler, and a crocodile casually crawling its way into a convenience store.
Another striking and hard-to-miss real-life reference is that of the Florida Joker. The real-life individual had been flashed on TV across the US thanks to his unusual facial tattoos and colored hair. Even the real Florida Joker couldn’t stop but believe that it was recreation and he even tried to demand money from Rockstar for his reference.
If all that wasn’t enough, the scene of a woman twerking on top of a car is flawlessly real. It is almost impossible to make out if it’s really a graphic or a real video recording. Fans and the community are clearly impressed by the realistic designs of GTA 6 as they claim that GTA’s graphics had “eclipsed reality” and looked “prettier” than the real thing.
