Apex Legends is all set to get a new season soon. As part of the fifth-anniversary celebration of the game, Apex Legends Season 20 Breakout is all set to change the face of the game in ways more than one.
Recently, the developers Respawn Entertainment revealed the patch notes as well as the trailer of Apex Legends Season 20. The season, Breakout, introduces a host of new content for players. Unlike other seasons, the new season may not introduce a new Legend, the developers have a lot of other changes in store.
New melee weapon in Apex Legends
The recently released trailer gives a sneak peek into a lot of new features. Among them the most significant, as rightly pointed out by users, is a new melee weapon. A player highlighted, “The most notable thing is the melee weapon Lifeline was holding.”
One of the support characters in the trailer can be seen running around and knocking people down with a new one-handed melee weapon. The weapon is seen having a blue glow. The scene has made many players speculate about what the new melee weapon could possibly be.
Some players believe that the weapons could be a revamped version of the Buster Sword that was seen in the game during the Final Fantasy event. One user pointed out, “Devs already created the animations for a melee weapon with the buster sword. Change the models and bam. New melee weapon.”
On the other hand, a set of fans also believe that the new weapon will be the new universal Heirloom dagger that was recently leaked. If that is the case, the new weapon could become the second of its kind behind the Buster Sword. A few players also compared the new melee weapon seen in the Apex Legends Breakout trailer to Halo’s iconic weapon.
Notably, the two melee weapons share some similarities when it comes to shape and color, however, it is seen to be different in size. The new one is seemingly bigger and looks more like an energy dagger.

The new season is believed to introduce more than 100 different perks in total with the new Legend Upgrade System. Besides, there will also be significant changes in how the Evo Armor functions in the game.
Recently, the devs also announced that the game would be getting rid of the tap strafing movement technique in the game in order to get rid of cheaters. The technique allegedly gave some players an unfair advantage over others.
Additionally, a few seconds into the trailer, one comes across Lifeline, Loba, and Mad Maggie fighting Catalyst. Lifeline bears a very odd-looking bladed melee weapon. On the other hand, Loba can be seen snatching up an Alternator with her ultimate ability of the Black Market.
Thus the new season gives the less-used characters such as Lifeline, Loba, and Maggie big buffs along with powerful abilities, while the more popular characters such as Revenant and Horizon have been given lesser abilities.
