Tyson Fury is widely regarded as one of the best heavyweight boxers of his generation, boasting an impressive record 33-0-1. The WBC champion is currently preparing for one of the most talked-about clashes of the year. He will be up against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou for a boxing match on October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“The Predator” is set to make his boxing debut following his departure from the UFC earlier this year and his subsequent signing with the PFL. Throughout his career, Ngannou has consistently expressed that entering the boxing ring has been a lifelong aspiration.
Although Fury is a clear favorite going into this big fight as Ngannou has no experience, this does not mean he is taking his opponent lightly. The undefeated boxing champ has been training with some of the best in the world.
For his highly anticipated crossover fight against Francis Ngannou, Tyson Fury will be guided by SugarHill Steward, who is his head coach. Steward took over the role of head trainer, replacing the former trainer, Ben Davison, prior to ‘The Gypsy King’s’ rematch with Deontay Wilder in February 2020.
Who are the sparring partners helping Tyson Fury for the Francis Ngannou fight?
Tyson Fury has taken help from a lot of sparring partners before his showdown with Ngannou. Solomon Dacres, an undefeated heavyweight prospect with a record of 7-0, was one of the first to receive the invitation to join Fury’s 12-week training camp leading up to his crossover match.
In his most recent sparring sessions, Fury has been training with another undefeated heavyweight, Alen Babic. The latter highly rates ‘The Gypsy King‘, who is also his idol. Additionally, Fury is also being helped by old friend Nick Webb. The latter is a professional British boxer and a former IBO International heavyweight champion. Nick is highly impressed by Tyson’s inside game in sparring.
Lastly, Tom Aspinall has been collaborating with Fury to assist in his preparation against the former UFC champion for his upcoming bout. Aspinall is a British MMA fighter who competes in the heavyweight division of the UFC.
Crossover fights between boxers and MMA fighters are generally seen mostly from a business point of view, as a lot of money is involved in them. However, Fury does not want to take Ngannou, one of the strongest and most feared MMA fighters, lightly. The efforts put in by both fighters are just increasing the excitement around this boxing battle.
