Preparations are underway for what is, quite literally, the biggest fight of the year. Francis Ngannou takes on Tyson Fury in just about a month and tensions are at an all-time high. In light of some latest training footage ahead of the fight, a lot of people are not too impressed with Ngannou.
With the fight drawing nearer, it is quite common for the athletes to appear for their press and media duties. Among them happens to be the media workouts, where the fighters show off their moves for the fans. Recently, the former UFC heavyweight champion also appeared for his media workout alongside Mike Tyson. Unfortunately, fans were rather unimpressed by what Tyson Fury‘s opponent had to show.
‼️ John Fury reacts to Francis Ngannou on the pads at his media workout ahead of the Tyson Fury fight: “I hope that’s a joke… If that’s what he’s got, God help him, he’ll get smashed to bits. That’s embarrassing. It’s a disgrace.”

For the most part, ‘The Predator’ seemed extremely sluggish with his punches and did not leave fans very confident in his abilities. Seeing the clip, Tyson Fury’s father, John Fury also lumped in on the Cameroonian. Speaking about Ngannou, he said, “I hope that’s a joke… If that’s what he’s got, God help him, he’ll get smashed to bits. That’s embarrassing. It’s a disgrace.”
Understandably, many were left rather shocked by Ngannou’s punching workout. Although he is said to hit like a truck and has a record power punch, the netizens were left baffled by his flat combinations. To put things into context, a 57-year-old Mike Tyson looked sharper and more crisp with his form whilst teaching Ngannou.
John Fury revealed his fear of Francis Ngannou in the past
Previously, Tyson Fury’s father cut a rather concerned figure following the announcement of the fight. Having witnessed a bit of the violence that Ngannou (17-3-0, UFC) put on display during his UFC reign, many were put on high alert. As such, even the mighty John Fury felt that his son could be in some serious danger against the 37-year-old. However, Big John has been known to be a bit over-enthusiastic at times as well.
Notably, Dillian Whyte and YouTuber KSI will be the first to attest to the 60-year-old’s antics. Ahead of Whyte’s fight against Tyson (33-0-1), ‘Gypsy’ cut a rather loud figure during their press conference faceoff. Similarly, John has been a very vocal and present figure ahead of his younger son, Tommy Fury’s fight against KSI next month. Loud and obnoxious as he may be, Papa Fury is well-beloved by boxing fans far and wide.

Following the announcement of Tyson’s fight against Ngannou, John shared his thoughts on the matchup. “I do believe he’s going to bring the smoke. I’m expecting Tyson to come out with a broken leg or a broken arm”. Further, he even added, “He’s going to get knocked about, Tyson and he knows that. Exhibition my backside – they’re going to kill each other them pair.”
Despite his comments in the past, it appears that he has now had a change of heart. As such, John now believes that it is the former UFC man who is in danger from his son. All things considered, Ngannou’s training clip has failed to impress anyone. However, at the same time, it could also be a clever ploy to make Fury drop his guard. Thus, to really know the truth behind the matter, we will have to stay tuned for the fight on October 28.
