Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz promised to be one of the biggest fights of the year. As such, now that the fight is over, we can say that it delivered as promised and then some. However, despite a solid showing against Jake, Nate’s elder brother Nick Diaz was not entirely pleased with his performance.
Coming into the fight, there were a lot of expectations from both fighters. Having announced his free agency, Nate’s first fight out of the UFC was very important for him. On the night, despite an entertaining performance, Nate only showed glimpses of his superstar self. As such, he suffered his first defeat at the hands of The Problem Child.
Following the conclusion of the fight, Nick Diaz was brought in to share his thoughts about the fight. “I think he (Nate) needed a little more work,” said Nick about his brother’s performance. Not only that, but Nick was inside the ring, eyeing up Logan Paul as the decision was being read out. In the post-fight interview, Nick also stated that he was open to a boxing stint himself saying, “I’m a lot better than most of these guys that are out there”.
Over the years, Nick has garnered a reputation for his brash style, and personality. As such, the leader of the ‘Diaz Army’ has taken on names like Georges St-Pierre, B.J. Penn, and Anderson Silva in the past. Despite his retirement at UFC 266, it appears that Nick is still open to fighting and potentially exploring new avenues like his brother, Nate.
Nick Diaz is open to fighting a Paul brother
Whilst many were expecting Nick to give some insight and share his thoughts about the fight, the 40-year-old instead began talking about his own return to fighting. Although fans might be hesitant to see him fight again, it appears the Stockton native is ready to get his gloves on.
Speaking about a potential fight in the future, Nick shared his thoughts. “I love the idea of entertaining and moving in on whoever they got for me. So if they want to do Round 2, if he ain’t gon do it, I’ll take it. You know, he (Jake) got an older brother too so.” As such, Nick seems very keen to exact revenge for his brother’s loss. Moreover, he is gunning for Logan, who took a private jet to make it to the fight hours after beating Ricochet at WWE Summerslam 2023.

After the fight, Jake and Nate also exchanged some words, commending each other for their performance. Here, Jake also extended the offer to fight Nate in an MMA fight. “I want 10 million dollars, PFL, that’s the offer. Let’s run it back in MMA. Make it fair, I won one, now it’s your chance in your home territory, MMA, let’s do it.” With Nate agreeing to run it back, it seems very likely that we will be seeing the two fight again soon.
For the most part, Nate seems confident that he can get the win in MMA and even tried to do some of it in this fight. “I had the single leg in the first and the triangle in the ninth,” he said in the post-fight interview. Despite what many thought, Nate put up a good fight and surprisingly did not even bleed. Thus, fans will be more hopeful about his MMA rematch with Paul.
