Jake Paul took on Nate Diaz at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on August 5 in a highly anticipated boxing bout. Jake Paul certainly started as a favorite, as he had an experience of seven bouts before this one against UFC legend Diaz. Moreover, he had experience in fighting UFC veterans too, as the YouTube sensation had already won against the likes of Anderson Silva, Ben Askren, and Tyron Woodley.
‘The Problem Child’s only loss came against pro-boxer Tommy Fury, and he was set to redeem himself against the Stockton Slugger. Nate Diaz, on the other hand, has already left the UFC and made his debut in bro-boxing against one of the most popular personalities in the world of boxing.

The first round started exactly as one would have thought. Jake dominated and Nate Diaz ate the punches and this continued till the third round. The MMA legend made a comeback in the 4th and launched a combination of punches to hurt his opponent.
In the very next round, Paul hit a big left hand at the side of Nate’s head to drop him down and it looked like a knock-out was near. But the thing with Nate Diaz is that you never know when he is hurt. He stood up and came back even stronger in the next few rounds and relied mostly on his uppercuts.
However, it was too late as the influencer-turned-boxer had been consistent with his punches and jabs throughout. Jake Paul won by unanimous decision and the judge’s scorecard read: 97-92, 98-91, 98-91.

It was an entertaining fight with Nate Diaz showing almost no interest in winning. He just wanted to have fun and just so you know, he did attempt a standing guillotine choke.
Paul vs. Diaz: Stats
Jake Paul is surely way ahead in the number of punches landed as he hit as many as 29 punches more than his opponent Diaz. ‘The Problem Child’ started very aggressively and that is what helped him secure an easy decision victory.

However, the Stockton native Diaz joined the party in the later rounds and even outpunched his opponent after he was knocked down in the 5th round.
Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz: Fight purse, PPVs
While many questioned Jake Paul’s decision to once again fight an almost-retired UFC fighter, most agreed that it was a big payday for Nate Diaz. It was really a good day at the office for the MMA veteran, as he reportedly took home an amount of about $500,000 as a guaranteed purse amount.
The YouTuber turned boxer made a figure north of $2 million as a guaranteed purse as per Sporting News. On top of that were the PPVs that were priced at $59.99. Paul and Diaz had a 65% and 35% share in PPV sales, respectively.

While the total number of PPVs bought is not known as of now, it is assumed the number is anywhere between 600,000 and a million. So, it is being estimated that ‘The Problem Child’ earned up to $10 million for the fight, and Nate Diaz took home around $3.5 Million at the same time.
While Jake Paul has gotten the better of Nate Diaz in the boxing match, fans will be hoping that an MMA fight between the two stars will materialize as Paul himself has put an offer of $10 Million on the table.
