That said, the big talking point emerging has been about the age difference between the 27-year-old Jake Paul and his 57, soon-to-be 58-year-old opponent, Mike Tyson. In addition to this, seeing that the fight will naturally be a heavyweight contest, it is uncharted territory for the internet sensation turned influencer boxer. However, knowing Paul, he is always a step ahead with his preparations.
Jake Paul explains his surprising weight gain for the Mike Tyson fight
Following the initial announcement of the fight, rumors soon emerged about Jake Paul and his current weight. In a podcast, Shane Mosley revealed the fact that Paul was currently walking around at 230 lbs, which was certainly the most anybody has ever seen him at. Having fought at cruiserweight for most of his career the thought of him competing at heavyweight is an interesting situation, all things considered.
In a recent episode of his podcast, BS w/ Jake Paul, the boxer further delved into his physique and weight ahead of the Mike Tyson fight.
“It’s weird to me that I’m weighing 230, but since this was noodling, after my last fight, I’m just like getting to eat as much as possible and it turns out, my body carries this weight super well.
“And I’m only growing, I think I’ll get up to 240, and then probably cut down so I’m like way faster, but if I’m training for this camp at 240, and then I cut down to 220, it’s basically like I had a 20lb weight vest on, for the whole entire camp.”
As such, Jake Paul believes that ballooning up to 240 lbs will go a long way in helping him increase his power for this fight. Moreover, with him trimming down to 220 as the fight draws nearer, it will allow him to carry that power whilst being slightly faster and more agile as well. Despite the 30-year age gap, he will need to be vary of Mike Tyson’s power, which has put innumerable men to sleep in the past.
What weight has Jake Paul previously fought at?
Seeing that power and speed are the focus behind Jake Paul‘s weight gain, it only makes sense for us to compare the weights at which he has fought before. Notably, he has also revealed his usual walk-around weight outside of training camps, which further gives a better idea of the changes that he has made for this fight.
“It’s just shocking to people that that’s how much I weigh. Normally I’m fighting at 200 and walking around at 210. It’s weird to me that I’m weighing 230.”

As his fellow co-host also mentioned, Jake has also fought at 185 in the past. Notably, with a look at his new physique, many drew comparisons to his frame from his fight against Tyron Woodley which took place at 190 lbs. As for his last fight against Ryan Bourland, Jake came in at less than 200 lbs, weighing roughly the same as his fight against Andre August.
Notably, for the fight against Nate Diaz last year, Jake weighed in at 185 lbs which was nearly 2 lbs more than the 183.6 lbs he weighed in for the Tommy Fury fight. All things considered, this new factor thrown in the mix may just provide enough excitement for fans to want to tune in and assure the success of what is sure to be a massive event.
