The XFL is a professional football league with eight teams in its possession. Similarly, the USFL is also a pro football league that had previously ceased to operate in 1986. However, a return was recently confirmed.
The sole owner of the USFL is Fox Corporation. On the other hand, XFL has three owners: Hollywood and WWE Superstar Dwayne Johnson, his ex-wife Dany Garcia, and RedBird Capital Partners.
However, now it has been reported that XFL and USFL will be reaching an agreement to merge. It has also been reported that the news of the merger might come sooner rather than later. It might even come as early as this week. The football leagues will reportedly merge before the beginning of the 2024 season.

According to reports, the merger might prove to be a smart move. That is because several leagues that previously rose as an alternative to the NFL have failed. However, the unity might prove beneficial in the future for Dwayne Johnson as well.
The co-owner of XFL Dwayne Johnson previously sent a warning to USFL
This is not the first time XFL and USFL have been making headlines together. Previously, USFL took a shot at XFL, and the co-owner of XFL, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, sent a warning to them.
Previously, to promote its new season earlier this year, USFL released a commercial. It highlighted, “This is the USFL, reborn from the OGs. This isn’t some Hollywood knockoff“. The last two words, that is “Hollywood knockoff”, seemed to be indicating the Hollywood Superstar Dwayne Johnson and his football league, XFL.
Thereafter, Johnson appeared in an interview. During that he addressed USFL taking a dig at XFL. The WWE Superstar said that they are all in entertainment and everyone’s connected to Hollywood. He then went on to say that they got a good laugh out of the advertisement.
He said, “Also, it’s much easier to talk trash when you’re hiding behind the corporate walls and a computer. We’re very forward facing. We’re not hard to find“. Thus, Johnson provided a clear-cut warning to their dig and stated that, unlike USFL, the people associated with XFL are not hard to find.
However, those digs and warnings are a part of the past now, as it has been reported that the leagues might go through a merger soon. It is to be seen what awaits the Extreme Football League and the United States Football League in the upcoming days. Also, it remains to be seen how long before the deal gets finalized.
