SUMMARY
- The Cenation Leader, John Cena, is one of the most successful names in WWE.
- The 16-time WWE Champion is often compared to Hollywood Megastar, Dwayne Johnson.
Dwayne Johnson is often said to be the most successful wrestler-turned-actor due to his spectacular success in Hollywood. But if there’s a name that comes close to whatever he has done in his career outside of the WWE, it’s none other than his arch-rival, John Cena.
Due to the on-screen rivalry they’ve had in the Stamford-based promotion and the 16-time WWE Champion’s success as an actor, he’s often compared to The Rock. But despite all this, Cena recently admitted a stupid rookie mistake he made against Dwayne. In fact, the 46-year-old revealed that it still haunts him.
The pro wrestling veteran shared this during his recent appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast. In what was an interview fans had been waiting for a long time, John revealed a lot of interesting incidents from his decades-long career. But what has probably grabbed the attention of the audience are his comments about the mistake he made against The People’s Champion.
John Cena regrets making fun of Dwayne Johnson
During the interview, Logan Paul started talking about The Rock’s return on the Day 1 episode of RAW, and that’s when the conversation went towards Cena’s rivalry with the Jumanji actor. In the meantime, The Cenation Leader started talking about how he still regrets making fun of Johnson during their feud.
It must be noted that John and The Brahma Bull had an iconic rivalry, as they headlined two consecutive years of WrestleMania. While the whole feud was a tremendous one, the 16-time WWE Champion once crossed the line during it. In what was something nobody expected from a veteran like Cena, he called out Johnson for his ‘wrist notes’ during one of their promos together in 2012.

This moment was unscripted, and The Rock was pretty furious at the pro wrestling legend for making fun of him in front of the live audience. Even though it’s been over a decade since it happened, The Leader of the Cenation still gets haunted by the comments he made against The People’s Champion.
Are Cena and The Rock friends in real life?
As The Rock was angry over what John Cena said about his promos, the WWE universe still feels that there is heat between both of these veterans. But it’s been 12 years since all that happened, and it seems like both of them have probably moved on from their issues.
In fact, The Cenation Leader and The Brahma Bull are really good friends now. Both of them are often seen praising each other for whatever they’ve achieved in their respective careers and their contributions to the Stamford-based promotion. The most recent example of their real-life friendship was seen in September 2023.
In what was a really special episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Dwayne made a surprise appearance on the 2-hour-long show. But what made things even more memorable was the hug Cena and The Rock shared during a backstage interaction on the program. It was a great moment, and it clearly showed the kind of bonding they have between them.
