SUMMARY
- CM Punk recently made an appearance on the latest episode of Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour.
- During the interview, The Voice of the Voiceless didn't hesitate to blast AEW.
CM Punk has taken the world of professional wrestling on storm ever since he made his comeback to WWE. Amid the terms he previously left the Triple H-led promotion on, nobody expected him to ever return. But it was the tensions between him and AEW after the controversy at All In in London that made this unexpected thing a possibility.
As Punk was involved in a backstage brawl with Jack Perry at the show, Tony Khan ended up firing him, and it opened the doors for his return to the Triple H-led promotion. Even though CM is currently injured, he was the guest on the latest edition of The MMA Hour, and he shared details about the All In saga, thus putting the Tony Khan-led promotion on blast.

But just hours after Punk broke silence about his AEW exit, All Elite Wrestling has fired several high-profile names to lower the expenses. According to Fightful, Stu Grayson, Gravity, Jose The Assistant, Dalton Castle’s Boys, Slim J, Parker Boudreaux, Jora Johl, Anthony Henry, and Dasha Kuret are the big names that have been released due to budget cuts in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
CM Punk finally talks about the Jack Perry controversy
In his conversation with Ariel Helwani, the veteran talked briefly about how AEW is not even a business and that the way the promotion is run is unprofessional. The Straight Edge Superstar didn’t hesitate to even talk about the Jack Perry controversy and made major claims about what happened that night.
CM Punk said, “I didn’t punch anybody, I just choked somebody a little bit. Samoa Joe was there, told me to stop, and then I quit. I turned to Tony (Khan) and I said, ‘This place is a f–king joke, man. You’re a clown, I quit.’” Despite all this, CM went on to put on a spectacular match with Joe, and it ended up being his last ever appearance in the promotion.
CM Punk choked Jack Perry out, quit AEW, delivered a banger with Samoa Joe, left Wembley stadium and got a Nandos with the lads.

Even though there is a non-disparagement agreement of some sort in place, Punk alluded to it in his interview. But as the former AEW star has often been involved in controversial scenarios, it seems like he doesn’t really care about that. Moreover, it remains to be seen what consequences he might have to face after this interview.
Has Tony Khan talked about CM Punk after firing him from AEW?
As The Best in the World raised his side about the dramatic end to his All Elite Wrestling career, the entire industry has been talking about it. But a major part of the community has been wondering about Tony Khan’s reaction to it. In fact, fans have also been asking if the AEW CEO has talked about CM Punk after firing The Best in the World.
In this regard, it must be noted that the pro wrestling figure has talked about The Voice of the Voiceless, but he hasn’t mentioned anything about CM’s backstage saga with Jack Perry. During an interview, Khan was asked if he could address Punk’s positive contributions to his company, and he did so.
In another interview, Khan was asked if he was surprised by Punk’s WWE return, but he didn’t answer this. Instead, he said, “I can’t talk about that. Nor do I think it’s the time or the place. I appreciate you asking and I’m very excited about AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. Not to dodge or duck your question, it’s just something I can’t legally talk about.”
I had the chance to chat to #AEW owner Tony Khan about #AEWAllIn 2024 at Wembley Stadium ahead of tickets going on sale this week.
I’ll post the full interview tomorrow but we covered lots of topics, including Sting, Will Ospreay, Fulham FC and I had to ask about #CMPunk… pic.twitter.com/1k2Jd5k5qh

Even though Tony Khan previously dodged this question regarding The Second City Saint, it remains to be seen if his stand on such things changes after what Punk said in the recent interview. Moreover, it’ll be interesting to see if the CEO of the Jacksonville-based promotion responds to Punk’s comments or not.
