Moreover, he added that the whole altercation was really intense, and there was a lot of tension all around. It must be noted that Kid was backstage during the event in August 2023, as he co-performed Swerve Strickland to the ring. As the 51-year-old witnessed the brawl, he’s surely one of the the few whose views about the fight are trustworthy.
Despite what happened backstage at the show, the Best In the World competed in his scheduled match against Samoa Joe. In fact, their encounter was the highlight of the night, due to the spectacular performances. But, it ended up becoming Punk’s last match in All Elite Wrestling.
CM Punk’s All In altercation made his WWE return a reality
Following Punk’s controversial brawl with Perry in London, Tony Khan shocked the entire professional wrestling industry on Collision’s September 2, 2023, episode. During the show in Chicago, the AEW CEO announced the termination of The Straight Edge Superstar, and it was something nobody really saw coming.
Amid the star power CM Punk brings to the table, it was unexpected, but it really happened, and Punk was fired from All Elite Wrestling. It was a huge loss for the Jacksonville-based promotion, and WWE took advantage of the situation.
As soon as the Best In the World left the Tony Khan-led promotion, rumors about his return to the Stamford-based promotion started circulating. After months of speculation, the 45-year-old eventually made a comeback at WWE’s Survivor Series event, in his own hometown on November 25, 2023.
His return to the Triple H-led promotion in November 2023 was surely among the top moments in the company’s history. In fact, the iconic pop he received from the crowd was out of this world. Thus, it’s safe to say that Punk’s All-In altercation made his WWE return a reality. Moreover, the veteran now looks forward to Royal Rumble 2024, so that he can win it, and then main-event WrestleMania 40.
