CM Punk made his name in the world during his first stint with the Stamford-based promotion. Apart from holding almost all the championships, Punk had been one of the most promising stars of the company. Best known for his trash talk and straight-edge lifestyle, CM Punk doesn’t hold himself back from voicing his opinion.
In his glorious career, CM Punk found himself in various controversies. One such incident dates back to 2014, when the then WWE Senior Ringside Physician, Dr. Christopher Amann, sued Punk for making defamatory remarks about him. In addition to Punk, his defamation lawsuit also focused on Colt Cabana, on whose podcast the entire heated argument rose to the limelight.
Dr. Christopher Amann filed the lawsuit, aiming for $4 million in damages and some additional amounts. WWE took a stand for its medical staff and tried their best to prevent the loopholes in their system from making it to the public, but in vain. Almost four years later, the legal authorities dismissed the claims made by Dr. Amann, thus ending the lawsuit in CM Punk’s favor.
What did CM Punk say about Dr. Christopher Amann?
After his release from WWE in 2014, CM Punk sat down with Colt Cabana on his podcast, ‘The Art of Wrestling.’ Talking about various things, Punk spoke about the faulty medical facilities at the company. He recalled his state after WWE’s European tour. “I’m on all fours after every match, and I’m either puking for real or I’m just dry heaving because I don’t have anything in my stomach,” he said.
Punk revealed that he even failed to sleep and train. When the medical team saw his condition, they gave him Zpak. “They Z-Pakked me to death, so much that in December I [defecated] my pants on a SmackDown,” added CM Punk. While the medical team took the condition lightly, Punk wasn’t doing well internally.
HE SUED ME. He wanted to end the dumb shit HE started? I asked to speak to him, he declined. I asked to enter mediation, he declined. I offered money, IT WASNT ENOUGH! I never wanted ANY of it. He’s as greedy as you are ignorant to who I am, and fooled by who he is. pic.twitter.com/9JFwwMilUe

He confessed that he had a serious staph infection, which Dr. Amann failed to diagnose. In addition to this, he called him out for being incompetent at treating a concussion. Punk even went ahead to degrade WWE, which put money above the well-being of the wrestlers. His comments did not go well with Dr. Amann and he filed the lawsuit.
Is Dr. Amann still working for the WWE?
The allegations made against Dr. Amann left the fans wondering about the steps taken to ensure the well-being of the WWE stars. With his lawsuit falling contrary to his expectations, Dr. Amann had to bear much loss. Amidst this, his relationship with former WWE star Jillian Hall was brought out to the public.
Being involved with her s*xually as well as romantically, it raised many questions for him and he perhaps regretted suing the two stars. In September 2022, Amann retired from his position in WWE after serving for almost 14 years. “Amann gave notice some time ago and officially retired from his position with WWE this month,” reported PWInsider.
