WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been the reigning champion for more than 1000 days now. Even before this historic title reign began, Roman has been frequently involved in championship feuds throughout his WWE career.
The Tribal Chief has had numerous title reigns in WWE, and a lot of people think he has the most title wins in WWE history. But this is not the case, as Roman has the eighth most title wins among all-time wrestlers. Let’s take a look at the list of performers with more title wins than WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
The list of most title wins in history is topped by WWE legend Ric Flair and John Cena, as both of them are 16-time world champions. The position for second-most title reigns is held jointly by Triple H and Randy Orton, with 14 title reigns.
The fifth name is none other than Hulk Hogan with 12 title reigns, who is then followed by Brock Lesnar and Edge, as each of them has 11 reigns. They are followed by The Rock and Sting, as each of them has 10 title wins in their careers. The next name in this list is Harley Race, with 8 title reigns, who is followed by The Undertaker, Bret Hart, and Big Show, with 7 title reigns. (Via: Sacnilk)
These legends are then followed by Roman Reigns, as he has won the title on six occasions, which is equal to the title reigns of legends such as Kurt Angle, Randy Savage, and Steve Austin. Most of the wrestlers in this list are retired, so Roman has a great chance to surpass them and register himself among the performers with the most title wins in history.
How many days are left before Roman Reigns beats Bruno Sammartino’s record?
Roman Reigns has held the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship for 1068+ days, which has been one of the greatest title reigns in WWE history. Despite such a historic title reign, The Tribal Chief is still far from being the longest-reigning WWE Champion.
The longest-reigning WWE Champion in the company’s history is none other than Italian-American professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino. The legendary WWE performer held the title for a total of 4,040 days across two historical reigns.
Bruno’s first title reign began on May 17, 1963, it lasted till January 18, 1971, which was more than 2803 days. His second championship reign was another historic one, as it lasted from December 10, 1973, to April 30, 1977, which was for a total of 1237 days.
The Tribal Chief is currently in one of the most legendary reigns in WWE history. He still has a long way to go to even come close to Bruno Sammartino’s 2803-day reign. Looking at the way he’s going, he can probably surpass Bruno Sammartino’s 1237-day title reign but still has 169 days to go past this reign.
To remain in contention to break Bruno Sammartino’s 1237-day reign, Roman will first have to get rid of his cousin Jey Uso, as they will fight for the Undisputed Universal Championship at WWE SummerSlam. It remains to be seen if Roman Reigns can come out on top in this match on August 5 or not.
