Colby Covington has launched another attack on his ex-college mate Jon Jones. In another recent interview, Covington claimed that Jones pulled rank to not have the Welterweight fighter on the same card as him. As of now, Jon Jones is defending his UFC Heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295. On the other hand, Covington faces UFC Welterweight champion Leon Edwards for the title at UFC 296.
In an interview with Submission Radio, Covington was asked if he is disappointed about not being able to be on the same card and attend the same press conference as Jones. He responded, “I’m super disappointed, man. It keeps me up at night.”
He talked about their college days and how they shared a room at the time. Further, he explained how he wanted to ask him the tough questions. Covington believes the journalists would ask Jones “cupcake” questions.
“I just want to ask him some hard questions, the hard questions that these so-called journalists won’t ask him. They just give him some cupcake questions; they don’t want to ask the tough ones.”
The Welterweight challenger then started to attack Jones’ past. He talked about his various controversies related to domestic violence and steroid usage. He also claimed that Jones got him off the UFC 295 card.
“He went pouting, had another one of his probably drug… nights where he did too much blow and was crying, saying, “No, it’s not going to happen,” one of his little tantrums that we know he has. You know, when he’s hitting pregnant ladies at stop signs or beating his wife in a hotel room.”
However, Covington ended that answer on a cheerful note. He said that the fans at UFC 296 will witness a spectacle in Las Vegas.
Jon Jones and Colby Covington shared a room during their college days
Jones and Covington together attended the Iowa Central Community College. The Iowa college is an alumnus for various successful athletes including both the fighters. The pair were roommates at the institution but had a different answer for how long they were sharing a room.
Covington has claimed multiple times that they shared a room for two years. His latest admission came during his interview with Submisson Radio. However, according to Jones, the duration was just one semester.
Jon Jones on former roommate Colby Covington:
“Colby’s a habitual liar. Colby’s a really bad person. He really, really is. There’s a reason why Tyron Woodley got to know him and hates him. There’s a reason why Jorge Masvidal got to know him and hates him”#UFC247

At a media conference in 2019, Jones said, “Colby’s a habitual liar at the end of the day. He really is. He told the fans that we lived together for two years. We lived together for one semester. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and a lot of people don’t consider me a good person, but coming from me, Colby’s a really bad person. He really is. He really, really is.”
The pair are in a long-standing feud where they have not had much good to say about each other. Covington has regularly targeted Jones’ controversies while the Heavyweight champion has called him a bad person.
