Islam Makhachev shocked everyone with a head-kick KO over the UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, at UFC 294. While the whole MMA community was shocked by this match, ‘The Notorious One’ had a unique take on the main event.
Conor McGregor reacted to a clip of Islam landing some shots to the back of Volkanovski‘s head. McGregor defended Makhachev by saying that MMA is a very difficult sport to referee. Since Volk was already out, it was tricky to stop the match for a warning or point deduction.
“To stop that on a warning or a point deduction when Volk was essentially out already is a tricky one,” said McGregor. However, he said that there would be grounds for a point deduction or warning. ‘The Notorious One’ further claims that back-of-the-head shots are not good and Islam could have been disqualified.
Conor McGregor counters Michael Chandler with a hilarious tweet
The much-anticipated match between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler has been in the works for quite a while now. Although there is no fixed date for their match, they are constantly going back and forth on social media. Recently, Chandler tweeted that ‘The Notorious One’ is staying silent about their fight as he is, and he feels that McGregor is scared of him.
“He’s waiting for me to move on. It’s too late to be a scared man. Can’t remain afraid kid,” said Chandler via X. Conor McGregor was very quick in his response to Michael Chandler. “Lol, what? I’m just waiting on the date you little bum and you are getting electrocuted,” said Conor McGregor.

Logically, the fans won’t be able to see this fight until April 2024 since McGregor has just entered the USADA testing pool. If the UFC does not follow the USADA six-month rule, we can get this match by January 2024 since the UFC-USADA partnership will end on December 31, 2023.
When it was announced that McGregor and Chandler would be coaching the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter, MMA fans thought that they would fight after the end of that season, but it was not meant to happen. McGregor hasn’t fought since July 10, 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier via doctor stoppage.
Just like his rival, Michael Chandler is also coming off a loss to Dustin Poirier. However, Chandler has been more active as compared to ‘The Notorious One’. He is patiently waiting for his big payday when he faces McGregor.
