Michael Chandler is one of the most entertaining and toughest fighters in the UFC. He is currently the #5 ranked UFC Lightweight fighter with a pro record of 23-7. Chandler is also a former NCAA Division-1 wrestler. Chandler currently trains at Sanford MMA.

Chandler was born and raised in High Ridge, Missouri, and studied at Northwest High School. He joined the wrestling team and finished as the runner-up at the MSHSAA State Championships and as a senior in wrestling. Chandler amassed a 31–15 record against Big 12 opponents and a total of 100–40 record in his four years as a starter.

After graduation, Chandler enrolled at the University of Missouri and joined the school’s wrestling squad. Chandler was a four-time NCAA Division I qualifier and amassed a total of 100 career wins. He also earned runner-up honors in the 2008 and 2009 Big 12 Championships. He majored in personal finance management services with a minor in real estate.

Chandler used to fight in Bellator MMA before joining UFC and won the Bellator Lightweight Championship three times. He also fought in Strikeforce. Chandler made his UFC debut in 2021 at UFC 257. He fought Dan Hooker and won his debut by TKO in the first round.

Chandler fought Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title at UFC 262 but he was knocked out by Oliveira. He also lost his next bout against Justin Gaethje but won the Performance of the Night award for putting up a back-and-forth battle. Chandler bounced back with a front kick KO against Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.
