UFC 296 went down on December 16, and it’s safe to say that many enjoyed the events that transpired. However, the night was not as fruitful for many, including Donald Trump. Having witnessed a shocking performance by Colby Covington, the former U.S. President now has even more pressing issues to deal with.
For the most part, Covington had a rather embarrassing showing in the main event of UFC 296. Taking on Leon Edwards in his third attempt at the title, ‘Chaos‘ hardly put up any fight. Notably, after bringing up Leon’s deceased fighter in the press conference, many expected Covington to back up his trash talk.

Unfortunately, it was not to be, as the American fighter had a rather timid performance. With the recent news declaring Trump ineligible for the 2024 ballot In Colorado, the fighter has once again been dragged into the mud. In light of the recent news, former UFC fighter Derek Brunson also got a dig in, blaming Covington for Trump’s disqualification.
Did Donald Trump leave UFC 296 early?
As mentioned previously, the 45th United States President was in the arena for the UFC’s last event of the year. Accompanied and sitting next to UFC President Dana White, Trump has become somewhat of a regular attendee for some of the events. On the night, he was said to be present to support Colby, having established a good relationship with the fighter in the past.
Previously, the 35-year-old also received a congratulatory call after beating Tyron Woodley in 2020. Additionally, he was also invited to the White House shortly afterward. As such, Colby is a big fan of Trump and does not miss an opportunity to make it extremely obvious.

As for UFC 296, many pointed out that Trump had already left before Colby’s post-fight interview. Having shouted out the former president and cut a promo for his upcoming campaign, Covington was seemingly left out to dry. Whilst it is unknown whether Trump was escorted out due to security measures, many feel it was due to the disappointment of watching the challenger.
What do we know about Donald Trump’s disqualification from holding the presidency?
Jokes aside, there are much more serious matters that Trump is currently faced with. In a ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court, Donald Trump has been disqualified from holding the presidency. As per the Constitution’s insurrection clause, the decision has caused a massive uproar.
Additionally, the secretary of state has been directed to exclude Trump’s name from the state’s Republican presidential primary ballot. Notably, the landmark decision marks a historic moment. It is also the first time a presidential candidate has been disqualified under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
For the most part, the ruling has come about due to his role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack. Naturally, Trump’s campaign and other presidential hopefuls have protested the ruling. Currently, it is understood that the matter will be taken up by the US Supreme Court. Thus, the Colorado Supreme Court has put its ruling on hold until January 4, 2024.
