SUMMARY
- Anthony Edwards was interviewed after taking a 3-0 lead on the Suns.
- Edwards remains humble and wishes to play desperately in Game 4 in order to eliminate Kevin Durant and the Suns.
Anthony Edwards had quite a lot to say after the conclusion of Game 3 between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns. To the lesser informed fans who might not be aware, the 2023-2024 NBA playoffs are underway with the Suns and Timberwolves having been matched up for the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Although Edwards and the Timberwolves failed to defeat the Suns in the regular season, they proved otherwise as soon as their series began and managed to take a 2-0 lead in the series by defending their home court. Moreover, the team recently went on the road and won Game 3 in order to take a commanding 3-0 lead and put the Suns in a win-or-go-home situation for the rest of the series.
Since there has been no team in league history to successfully win a series after being down 0-3, one might have assumed that Edwards and the rest of his team were full of confidence after taking Game 3. However, Ant corrected these assumptions in his postgame interview.
Anthony Edwards’ complicated relationship with Kevin Durant
It might interest fans to hear that Edwards was a huge fan of Kevin Durant growing up and truly looked up to and admired the 2x NBA champion. As time flew by and Ant found his way to the league, Durant now turned into a rival whom Edwards wanted to defeat in the desire to establish his own legacy. Many may have noticed the trash talk and interactions between Durant and Edwards so far in this series.

After defeating KD and the Suns once again in Game 3, Anthony Edwards was asked if his team had successfully broken the Suns’ spirit. While this may have been the time for the Timberwolves star to brag or take a shot at the Suns, he refrained from doing so initially. After all, his team had been eliminated from the first round in the past and is now approaching unchartered territory.
“Nope we don’t think we broke their spirit till we win Game 4…We gotta win Game 4 and then we can say we broke their spirit Cuz you never know man a lot of crazy things can happen. So we gotta come out and be the most desperate team once again we can’t think that they’re gonna give us a game…So we gotta come out and compete at a high level even more so than in the first 3 games and we gonna be ready.”
The Timberwolves have never held a 3-0 lead in franchise history
While it is undoubtedly a wise decision to remain humble despite having a commanding lead, it is important to keep in mind that this is the first time in franchise history for the Timberwolves to win 3 postseason games without having lost a single one.

Since no team in NBA history has ever managed to come back from being down 0-3, it would be safe to say that the Timberwolves have already won this series, even if they end up losing Game 4. Be that as it may, Anthony Edwards and the rest of his team will look to end this series tonight by playing under a notion of desperation and at an even higher level.
