Erling Haaland is a soccer player with a big personality. His on-field and off-field shenanigans never fail to disappoint his fans. Sometimes, the Norwegian curses referees online, while he is also very adept at making weird faces when trash-talking with his opponents. However, the event where the 23-year-old was booted out of a Norwegian club will stay afresh in his fans’ memories.
The incident occurred in 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic was at its peak. Erling Haaland, who was 19 then, was enjoying his time in a club in Stavanger, Norway. However, the 23-year-old’s evening soon turned for the worse as he was soon thrown out of the club.
Fans had wrongly assumed that the then Borussia Dortmund player might have been excessively drunk on the night, and hence his expulsion. Erling is a party animal and goes big on them during his hiatus from soccer. However, the club authorities later cleared the air around the matter. They revealed, that the 23-year-old behaved well drunk and didn’t create any nuisance.

PSS Securitas was in charge of the club, where the then Borussia Dortmund player was partying. Christopher Naesheim, manager of PSS Securitas, explained the reason behind the Norwegian striker’s expulsion. He said (via Goal),
“Because of the current COVID-19 regulations, security personnel were aware of the crowd around Erling Braut Haaland. They knew that fans would not stop crowding around him, asking for photos and talking to him. Ultimately, the pressure became so great that we had to ask him to go. The video did show Haaland protesting his eviction, but there does not seem to have been any further fallout from the event.”
The video shared online, showed the Manchester City striker baffled at being escorted out of the club. It seems that the Norweigian’s popularity proved detrimental to him.
Alf-Inge Haaland reacts to son Erling’s club expulsion
The former Leeds United player enjoys a close relationship with his son, Erling. The two of them have taken p[part in many banters that have amused the fans online. Erling Haaland has always considered his father to be his biggest idol.
The Norwegian striker has publicly said that his decision to join Man City was influenced by his father’s long-cherished dream. Alf-Inge Haaland played for 9-time Premier League champions from 2000-2003.

However, Erling’s dad had a hilarious reaction to the 23-year-old’s expulsion from the club. Alf Inge Haaland jokingly told his son to focus on soccer instead of partying. He wrote, “Come on Erling, back to work. Big city nightlife is not for you.” Fans seemed to love the banter between the father-son duo.
Ultimately, the reason behind Haaland’s expulsion was due to Norway’s strict protocols regarding COVID-19. The Scandinavian country had contained the virus pretty well and wasn’t taking any risks with public gatherings. The Norwegian government had allowed gatherings only up to 200 people with a one-metre distance rule. Erling Haaland was a clear threat to the rule, given his popularity and stardom.
