In one of the ‘Sky Sports’ feature interviews, Roy Keane visited the Manchester United dressing room. He was accompanied by his former United teammate Jamie Redknapp. The Sky Sports presenter asked Roy about the infamous incident of Sir Alex throwing a stray boot at David Beckham.
Roy remembered the incident and by pointing towards a corner of the dressing room he described it. The 52-year-old stated – “I think Becks (David Beckham) was over there somewhere, somewhere near the mirror. Yeah and I think the manager (Sir Alex) had a go at him for something for not tracking back”.
The former Red Devils player further inflicted that – “Becks said something back and I think it was an accident”. He was interrupted by his mate Jamie Redknapp who asked him – “was it a good strike?” (regarding the power of the boot which strike Beckham). “It was…listen he (Sir Alex) struck it well”, Roy answered.
Roy Keane thought that it was an “unfortunate” incident. He further pointed out that if it was anyone else (in place of Beck) “it would have been fine”. He mentioned that just because the player hit was Beckham, that “created one or two issues”. The veteran closed out his depiction of the incident by asserting that this sort of stuff happens in dressing rooms. “You guys still love all that stuff”, Roy stated.
David Beckham reveals what he said to Sir Alex Ferguson inside the Manchester United dressing room
In a report by the ‘GOAL’ the former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham revealed his words that made Sir Alex Ferguson so angry inside the Red Devils’ dressing room. “We walked into the dressing room and the boss is fuming”, Beckham reportedly asserted.
The former England midfielder further opined that when the players see the manager like that, they don’t want to be “anywhere near” to him. David Beckham reflected that when Sir Alex was angry he “went back at the boss (Sir Alex) and said ‘no'”. He mentioned – “I said the f**k word”. Beckham inflicted that after listening to him, he saw the manager change.
The midfielder regretted about what he said and insisted – “I really shouldn’t have said that”. This incident gives an insight into the strict image of Sir Alex Ferguson during his reign at United. The manager saw unprecedented success at the club winning numerous trophies. However, one thing that stood out in his managerial reign at the club was his demand for severe discipline from his players.
