SUMMARY
- After a challenging stint at Manchester United, Jadon Sancho has returned to Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal, aiming to revitalize his career.
- Some fans highlighted the contrast between Sancho's performance at Dortmund and Manchester United.
Jadon Sancho has finally completed his eagerly anticipated return to Borussia Dortmund. In 2021, the Englishman departed from the German club and joined Manchester United in the Premier League. But Sancho could never quite get his stride and form down, so the move never really got going. His loan agreement with BVB has been characterized by soccer observers as an effort to revitalize his career.
Conversely, the Borussia Dortmund team seemed to be thrilled with their 23-year-old. During his tenure at the club from 2018 to 21, the English prodigy was extraordinary for “the black and yellows.” Furthermore, Jadon Sancho returned to the field and impressed the soccer audience once more with a cheeky assist to Marco Reus in his debut game.

It remains to be seen how Jadon will perform in the remainder of the 2023-24 season for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League. With no buy-option included in his deal, he will have to go back to Manchester United after the 6-month loan expires.
Jadon Sancho shares his opinion after delivering an assist in his first game on his return to BVB
In his first match back since rejoining the team on loan from Manchester United on January 13, Jadon Sancho delivered and stated, “It was meant to be” as Borussia Dortmund defeated Darmstadt 3-0. Sancho, who was fired by manager Erik ten Hag following a dismal season at United, returned to Dortmund just this week on a six-month loan.
But barely 20 minutes following coming off the bench, the player from England provided a goal for Marco Reus. Sancho supplied Reus, who touched in from close range, to give Dortmund, playing Darmstadt, the bottom team in the Bundesliga, a 1-0 lead courtesy of an early goal by Julian Brandt.

“I feel like it was meant to be, me coming back and seeing Marco again,” Sancho, 23, told Sky Germany. “He’s a great friend of mine… I’m happy to set up his goal today.” Jadon Sancho has a point to prove to his current club, Manchester United, and their fans and soccer experts.
After spending four years and winning the German Cup with Dortmund as a 17-year-old in 2017, Sancho moved to United for a cost of £73 million ($93 million, 85 million euros). After getting into a public altercation with Ten Hag, Sancho was benched at United for the majority of the season and hadn’t been seen on the field since August. This assist will get his fans up and running for the 2023-24 season as he continues to gain form at Dortmund.
