Mason Greenwood has been in the news for all the negative reasons lately after disturbing images and videos were released by his ex-girlfriend Harriet Robson who accused Greenwood of assault and r*pe.
The Greater Manchester Police was swift to action and immediately took cognizance of the case and arrested Mason on charges of r*pe and assault which saw his club Manchester United suspend him indefinitely.
Mason Greenwood was bailed out soon but brands like NIKE terminated their sponsorships with the player who was supposed to go to trial for the charges against him in November this year.

But in a surprising set of events last month, The Crown Prosecution Office announced that they had dropped the charges against Greenwood owing to the withdrawal of some key witnesses in the prosecution case and lack of evidence against the Man Utd forward.
The news meant Greenwood could make a comeback and return to play for Manchester United and it has recently been reported that Manchester United has started an internal investigation to decide whether Greenwood will return to the club or be released.
The fan opinion has been divided ever since the news broke with some of the fans advocating for Mason to come back while others think he should be banned by the club.
Potential Mason Greenwood comeback causes outrage
We went to Twitter to take a look at how the fans responded to the news of a potential reintegration of Mason into the club:
A set of fans threatened and went on to say that we’ll protest if Man Utd decides to release Mason Greenwood. Mason was one of the brightest young players at Old Trafford for a long time and was primed to become a great player at the club before his arrest.
The fan wrote: “we’ll protest.. if manutd terminates his contract”

Another fan believed that Mason Greenwood should be sold even though he would fit in Erik ten Hag’s team. The fan stated that some things are more important than the game and that what Mason did shouldn’t be let go like other clubs such as Manchester City and Arsenal.
The fan wrote: “I’d like Greenwood traded/sold. He’s a valuable asset who sadly would be an ideal fit for Ten Hags team, but he shouldn’t play for us again. Some issues are bigger. Many United fans just want success and will point at alleged City & Arsenal player infractions… but that audio…”

We noticed a fan who believed that the internal investigation started by the club was just a soft launch toward reintegrating Greenwood back into the team and if it wouldn’t have been a talented player like Mason, United would’ve already shown them the door.
They wrote: “This soft launch.. If he wasn’t on the cusp of being world-class he would have been gone by now.”

Erik ten Hag recently announced that it was not his but the club’s decision on the Greenwood situation and there were rumors of a phone call between the player and ten Hag. It will be interesting to see what Man Utd decides to do with Greenwood and how the fans react to the decision.
