Manchester United, the famous soccer club shook the whole soccer community when they went on and re-signed their former player and legend of the sport, Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2021. However, the end turned out to be the worst for Man Utd fans and Ronaldo himself.
After an unsatisfactory return to United in August 2021, Ronaldo left the Portuguese club under controversial circumstances to join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia just over a year later. During his tenure as manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also admitted that the choice of getting Cristiano Ronaldo back to his former club Manchester United “turned out wrong.”

Not only that, Stephen Howson, the famous social media presenter of Stretford Paddock, a Manchester United fan page claimed that Ole was the last to know about Ronaldo’s transfer to United. He said, “So Ronaldo rings Rio, Rio rings Woodward and goes, ‘You know Ronaldo is on a plane right F**ing now going on a medical for Manchester City and he went you F***ing what.”
He added, “Then I think someone got in touch with Fergie and then someone got in touch with Woodward, Woodward got in touch with Matt Judge, they decided whatever, the deal was done and Ole was probably the 9th person on the list to know.” This sent shockwaves to the United fans regarding the bad communication which led to this transfer.
Eventually, this also led to Ole being sacked after poor performances by his side in the 2021-22 season and this will go down as one of the reasons behind his sacking. It remains to be seen now how Manchester United perform under their new manager Erik ten Hag this 2023-24 season.
Cristiano Ronaldo opens up on Manchester United move
Cristiano Ronaldo believes he is now “a better man” in the wake of the tragic conclusion of his Manchester United career. Before returning to Old Trafford in 2021, the Portugal international played for Real Madrid and Juventus for 12 years while he was away from United. Even though he ended the 2021–22 season as the team’s top scorer, he encountered several challenges shortly after Erik ten Hag was named manager.

Ronaldo opened up on his United move, and stated, “Manchester United exit? When we are at the top of the mountain, we often don’t see what’s below. I went through a bad phase of my career, I have no problems admitting that. But life moves on.”
Ronaldo conducted an explosive conversation with Piers Morgan in the fall, during which he made numerous criticisms of United. He is now playing professional soccer in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr after he and the club mutually decided to discontinue his contract in November 2022. Despite leaving Manchester United in a manner that many fans would not have preferred, he will be loved and respected by United supporters for many years to come.
