Liverpool is embarking on a new phase in its accomplished history. For the first time in nine years, Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will not be associated with each other. The German coach took the tough call to end his journey at Anfield after the current season. Along with the manager, several key players will also not be present at Liverpool next season.
The club through their official social media handle, announced that Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip will leave Liverpool after their respective contracts expire at the end of the 2023/24 European season. The Merseyside club has endured a campaign filled with mixed results. They were able to lift the Carabao Cup but fell way short in the end in the Premier League as well as in the UEFA Europa League.

It is rumored that Arne Slot will be taking over the managerial duties at Liverpool next season onwards. The club’s management desires to provide the Dutch coach with a fresh squad. Thiago and Matip, both are in the twilight of their respective careers, leading the club to decide against extending their contracts. Liverpool have recently unveiled their new home jersey which will be officially worn in their home matches during next season. The club will debut the new jersey against Wolves on Sunday at Anfield in what will be Jurgen Klopp’s final game in charge.
