- Henry collected the FIFA Best Men's Player award on behalf of Lionel Messi who was unavailable.
It looks like Arsenal blood hasn’t left the veins of French legend Thierry Henry to date. Henry, who ran through the wings of Highbury and donned the Arsenal jersey for a period of 8 years between 1999 and 2007, had some moments in his career when he got the chance to ridicule the Tottenham Hotspurs fans.
A similar moment was seen last night, January 15, at the ‘The Best FIFA Football Awards.’ Henry, who was the host of the award show, found a moment to take a dig at his fellow co-host, British journalist Reshmin Chowdhury, who is also believed to be a Spurs fan.
A clip went viral across the internet where it could be seen Henry collecting the FIFA Best Men’s Player award on behalf of the winner, Lionel Messi, who was unavailable. Henry, who never won the award during his playing career, stepped up to take the award on behalf of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Thierry Henry: “Unfortunately The Best winner, Leo Messi, is not here, so I will take it… Well, you are a Tottenham fan right? You can touch it too. You usually don’t get your hands on a trophy.” pic.twitter.com/BzJ9hEs7Bv

However, what followed was a moment of hilarious interaction between the two hosts. Keeping in mind Spurs’ challenge to win silverware over 16 years, Thierry Henry aimed a playful jibe at the co-host.
The former Arsenal superstar came with a banter as he said, “Unfortunately the winner is not here, so someone is going to have to take the trophy. I will take it. I actually have two reasons for taking it, and that is I never won it, so I’ll keep it. And you are a Tottenham fan right? You usually don’t get your hands on a trophy, so I’ll take this one. Thank you very much.”
Henry’s joke comes as a reflection of his legendary career for Tottenham Hotspurs’s arch-rivals Arsenal. Henry scored 228 goals and assisted 103 during his time at the London-based club.
Who was Thierry Henry’s co-host, Reshmin Chowdhury?
Thierry Henry’s playful jib at his co-host, Reshmin Chowdhury, has garnered a lot of reactions across the internet. However, many fans are still wondering who she actually is.
Reshmin Chowdhury “The thing about Thierry is that so he’s like the Arsenal legend and here I am the Tottenham fan.”
Thierry Henry “And I’m gone!”
