Alex Morgan is a larger-than-life figure in American soccer. And now, she has a visual representation of the expression. Fox Sports has conceived a 20-foot-long statue for the face of women’s soccer in America.
The statue is part of a marketing campaign for the upcoming Women’s Soccer World Cup. As the broadcaster for the upcoming tournament, Fox Sports aims to generate buzz around the topic with this initiative.

Crafted from hard-coated and reinforced foam, the statue weighs 825 pounds and showcases a 3-D printed resin head and trophy. It adorns itself with a drape of the American flag, drawing inspiration from the Statue of Liberty. The statue aptly bears the name “Liberty Alex.
Robert Gottlieb, Marketing President at Fox Sports, told Reuters, “Originally, we thought of making it 10 feet, but then we thought, maybe it should be 15. And when we saw 15, we thought, let’s make it 20. Naturally, the cost increased with each iteration.”
Robert chose not to disclose the price they paid to have this statue made, but estimations for a 3D-printed statue of this size with those materials suggest that the cost could range from $60,000 to $70,000. The statue will embark on a nationwide tour to promote the competition that kicks off next month in Australia and New Zealand.
Alex Morgan’s USA favorite for the upcoming Women’s World Cup
Morgan is the perfect candidate for this initiative as she has won the World Cup twice for the USA. In the 2019 edition, she earned the Silver Boot by scoring 6 goals for her side.
The USA is the defending champion having won the tournament in 2019. The 2019 edition was held in France, it captured the world’s attention with thrilling matches, record-breaking attendance, and a resounding victory for the United States, reaffirming the growth and increasing popularity of women’s soccer.
The USA has demonstrated dominance throughout the history of the Women’s World Cup, securing victory in 4 out of 8 editions. They emerged as winners in the inaugural edition held in China in 1991.
The USA women’s team has achieved a Top 3 finish in every edition of the tournament. They have established themselves as favorites for the 9th edition. Germany, with two-time victories in the 2003 and 2007 editions, stands as the second most successful team in the tournament.
Alex Morgan, who turns 34 next month, will captain the side in what could be the last World Cup of her career. The USA will encounter tough competition from England, Germany, and Sweden.
