The former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand’s recent revelation has brought him to the centre stage yet again. His recent revelation involves Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ferdinand who is a well-recognised soccer pundit, has been accused of lying on camera regarding Alejandro Garnacho. During his recent ‘Vibe with Five’ podcast, Ferdinand disclosed a private chat between himself and Alejandro Garnacho.
According to the former English defender, Garnacho, who had the privilege of working alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford, saw Messi unfollowing him on Instagram due to his public preference for the Portuguese icon.
To even begin with, Messi never followed Garnacho on Instagram btw.. why lies @rioferdy5 😂 pic.twitter.com/pUGnSWmqJo

He stated, “You know what I like about him? He doesn’t give a f***. Garnacho told me Messi unfollowed him just because he makes no secret of preferring Ronaldo. He comes out, doesn’t care, ‘I’m a Ronaldo man’. Who’s the GOAT? Ronaldo. (Even) when he’s in the Argentina squad.”
Contrary to Ferdinand’s statements, it has come to light that Lionel Messi never followed Alejandro Garnacho on Instagram in the first place. Although, Garnacho who regards Messi as his idol, still follows him across social media platforms.
He’s sounding like a troll account at this point, it’s so sad .

Following Ferdinand’s comments, there have been wild reactions from fans in X. One fan humorously stated, “He’s sounding like a troll account at this point, it’s so sad.” Another quipped, “Messi dunked on him in the 2009 & 2011 UCL finals.”
However, some fans noticed in April 2022 that Messi had unfollowed Garnacho on social media. This was after Garnacho posted a photo of Ronaldo with a message calling him the greatest of all time. Garnacho had previously referred to Messi as his idol, but despite now being colleagues in the senior Argentina squad, Messi has still not followed him back.
Rio Ferdinand ranks Alejandro’s overhead kick above Wayne Rooney’s Manchester derby stunner
It seems like Alejandro Garnacho has just discovered the keys to unlock greatness. With what is already the goal of the season according to some pundits, former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has voiced his opinion on the Argentine’s stunner against Everton on November 26, 2023.
Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho has been in the spotlight recently after scoring a stunning overhead kick against Everton. This goal has sparked a lively comparison with Wayne Rooney’s iconic Manchester derby strike in 2011. However, Rio Ferdinand has weighed in on the debate, stating that Garnacho’s acrobatic effort surpasses the legendary goal of Rooney.

When asked on his Vibe with Five podcast, which one was better, Ferdinand replied without a hint of a doubt, “Garnacho. One was off a shin pad, the other was off his boot. I’m sorry, Wazza.”
“That goal is better than Rooney’s. He was running away from the goal, a bit further away from the goal, at an angle. It was an unbelievable, breathtaking moment,” he added.
Despite still only being 19 years old, Garnacho’s confidence was evident in his attempt at the shot. And this might be the reason why his goal has been so highly praised by pundits around the world.
