It has been almost four months since Jadon Sancho last played a game for Manchester United. Sancho has been ousted from the squad ever since he clashed with Erik ten Hag after United’s game against Arsenal. However, it appears as if ten Hag has remained firm in his stance about Sancho’s return.
The controversy started after Erik ten Hag left Jadon Sancho out of the squad for Manchester United‘s Arsenal clash. Upon being asked about the reason behind his decision, Ten Hag stated that it was because of Sancho’s performance in training sessions. This led to Sancho issuing a statement on his X account, stating that Ten Hag‘s claims were untrue.

Although Sancho deleted the post a couple of days later, he has remained at odds with his coach ever since. Previously, ten Hag was asked about how Sancho could get back into the squad. To which, the Dutch coach stated that Sancho had to apologize to him. Most recently, ten Hag has again reiterated his message for Sancho. He said, “Jadon knows what he has to do if he wants to return and it is up to him.“
He further added that Sancho needs to abide by the culture and the standards expected at Manchester United. While Sancho has remained adamant in his decision to not apologize to his coach, he hasn’t been sitting idle either. According to some reports, Sancho has been training hard and has continued to maintain his fitness for the time when he finally makes his return to the team.
Jadon Sancho might return to his former club amid his Erik ten Hag row
Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is reportedly heading towards an exit from Manchester United. Sancho’s $101 million move to United in 2021 from Borussia Dortmund hasn’t exactly gone according to plan. The 23-year-old has struggled to replicate his performances for Dortmund in England. However, according to the German news outlet BILD Sports, Sancho could move back to Dortmund.
Dortmund is reportedly interested in a swap deal for Sancho with their Dutch winger Donyell Malen. While United reportedly currently value Sancho at around $50 million, their price for Malen is around $32 million. Dortmund is willing to forego their asking price for Malen if they get Sancho in return. However, the fans might have to wait for Sancho’s return as Dortmund is reportedly unwilling to match Sancho’s current fee at United.
