Cristiano Ronaldo recently responded to a heartfelt message from his former Real Madrid colleague Marcelo regarding Luciano Sanchez’s unfortunate injury.
The incident occurred during a Copa Libertadores match between Fluminense and Argentinos Juniors. While attempting to dribble past Sanchez, Marcelo’s leading foot inadvertently struck the Argentine player’s shin with significant force, resulting in a distressing injury. Sanchez’s leg twisted at an alarming angle, causing him to writhe in pain on the field.
Marcelo was visibly moved by the incident and left the pitch in tears. He took to social media to express his regret, clarifying that the collision was unintentional.
In a show of solidarity, Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, posted a folded hands emoji to convey his empathy for the injured Sanchez.

Notably, Ronaldo was not the only soccer star to extend support. Marcelo’s former Madrid teammates, Vinicius Jr., and Federico Valverde, also demonstrated their compassion. Vinicius Jr. echoed Ronaldo’s sentiment with a similarly folded hand emoji, while Valverde wished Sanchez a swift recovery, acknowledging that such unfortunate incidents are part of the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence on Marcelo’s career
Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Real Madrid from Manchester United in July 2009 was a momentous transfer that shattered records. His staggering transfer fee and global profile heralded a new era of Galacticos.
Meanwhile, Marcelo had already established himself as a promising left-back, having joined Real Madrid from Fluminense in January 2007. Although already a part of the club for a couple of years, Marcelo’s career would take a transformative turn with Ronaldo’s arrival.

The chemistry between the two players was instant and electric. Marcelo’s impeccable timing, vision, and ability to read Ronaldo’s runs made them a nightmare for opposition defenders.
The Brazilian’s assists to Ronaldo were a spectacle to behold. Marcelo’s signature move, often seen during counterattacks, involved a marauding run down the left flank, followed by a perfectly weighted cross or pass into the box. Ronaldo, with his extraordinary aerial ability and positioning, frequently converted these opportunities into goals, turning the duo into a formidable offensive force.

A few months back there was another news regarding the two where Cristiano Ronaldo wanted Al-Nassr to sign former Real Madrid left-back Marcelo. The Brazilian full-back was without a club at that time after Greek side Olympiacos terminated his contract due to fitness issues.
However, the reunion ultimately did not materialize as the former Real Madrid left-back signed a two-year deal with his boyhood club, Fluminense soon after.
