The answer raised a few eyebrows from fans all over the world. Many fans, however, believe that the player refused to comment on the matter out of his love for his boyhood club Sporting CP. Ronaldo started his professional soccer career at Sporting CP before he made a switch to English club Manchester United.
Benfica is the direct rival of Ronaldo’s former club Sporting. Therefore, the player has also received praise from the fans upon seeing his respect for his former club.
Cristiano Ronaldo once criticized Angel Di Maria’s lack of morale in a Champions League final
Cristiano Ronaldo shared the dressing room with Angel Di Maria at Real Madrid before the latter made a move to PSG. Ronaldo once shared an incident where he felt that Di Maria lacked the morale to win.
Ronaldo revealed, “I love the pressure. When I do not feel the pressure, I want to take my boots, put them on the side, and say: ‘That’s it.’ It has always been about success and winning. If I had to choose one title then the Champions League would be the most important.”

The player further continued, “At 88 minutes gone in the final, I looked for Di Maria and I saw him face down thinking: ‘We have a better team but we are going to lose.’ But I always believe. I will always say that it doesn’t matter if you play good or bad, as long as you win. In 20 years, no one will look back and say; ‘they played better, they created more chances.’ It just depends on who wins.”
Real Madrid managed to win the match 4-1 even after a bad start to the game. Furthermore, Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the scorers in the match who helped Los Blancos to claim the win.
