CR7 during his first stint at Manchester United, shared the pitch with Brazilian soccer player Anderson. The two had a very close bond and could be seen bantering around in the dressing room. However, at times though CR7 could be seen as jovial, Anderson was fortunate enough to witness the Al-Nassr player’s elite training regime first-hand.
Anderson reveals the elite mentality of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United
The Brazilian soccer player and another ‘Red Devil’ in the form of Nani sought refuge in Cristiano’s home in Manchester. The trio spent one year at the former Real Madrid player’s home. During this time, Anderson was amazed by Cristiano’s level of dedication towards his work, which he revealed later, “Luis Nani and I lived at Cristiano Ronaldo’s house for almost a year. Training was at 9:30 am, but sometimes we had to go at 6:30 am because he started earlier.”
Cristiano Ronaldo always wanted to stay ahead of others and hence always had a zeal to outwork others in training. Anderson praised CR7’s inhumane dedication and regrets not learning from his teammate. He laments, “With 5% of his mentality, I would have been one of the 20 best midfielders of the time.”
Anderson, after showing great promise at Manchester United, the 4-time Premier League Champion’s career went downhill. The talented Brazilian never found any good suitors for him. After leaving United, permanently in 2015, Anderson played in countries like Brazil and Turkey. He retired from professional soccer in 2019 aged 31.

Anderson and the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner only played for two seasons together at United. However, these two seasons were enough to impress and most importantly surprise the Brazilian. In an interview, with Sport, the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League winner revealed how CR7 surprised him at United. He said (via Goal), “With Ronaldo you are surprised at every moment. He thinks 100% about football. The game ends and he goes straight home to recover.”
🚨🎙️Anderson (former Manchester United player) about Cristiano’s second spell with United:
“When Cristiano comes back, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo. Protect him. Currently he has 50 goals.
There are those who say: “Oh, but he is in Saudi Arabia,” but he scored 50 goals.

Anderson also revealed that Cristiano was also a very good friend along with being an elite professional. He also thanked CR7 for being kind to him. The Brazilian said, “A lot of people don’t know it, but he helps a lot of people. He has a very good heart. He took us to training, he cared. In England he was very important to me.”
Cristiano took great care of Nani and Anderson when they first arrived in England in 2007. Both were unfamiliar with the culture and climate of the European country. That is why Cristiano kept the two at his house for a year and helped them with their settling process in Manchester.
