SUMMARY
- Kevin Durant has reportedly been unhappy about his offensive role alongside Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.
- The report places KD's future in doubt, especially after getting swept 0-4 by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Phoenix Suns were just swept 4-0 by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards’ and Co. managed to get past one of the strongest teams in the league, although the Suns haven’t displayed much on offense and defense to justify that. When Matt Ishbia brought together Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, the NBA was on high alert. They were tipped to be the big three that could go all the way. But unfortunately for the Suns, it didn’t go according to plan from the start.
The big three had their fair share of their troubles with injuries, with Booker and Beal facing the worst setbacks. It is no secret that when players do not have much experience next to each other, it increases the chance of failure due to lack of chemistry. That was certainly the case with the Suns. Even Devin Booker admitted that the team’s lack of communication was one of the reasons for their humiliating failure, which received a response from Durant as well.
Kevin Durant reportedly unhappy with his offensive role
NBA insider Shams Charania recently mentioned that that Durant has been unhappy with his role on the offensive side. This comes just hours after the Suns crashed out of the playoffs. It is interesting to see as the report suggests that there could be some tension in the locker room between head coach Frank Vogel and the player.

KD is an exceptional scorer who can make his plays. He can bag points almost out of nothing and his height and reach just make him even more dangerous. He needs to be given the freedom on the ball but it seems like that hasn’t happened with the Suns this year. Reports claim that Durant wasn’t happy about being moved to the corner frequently and that the Suns’ offensive strength was pick-and-rolls, which didn’t align with his. This just adds to the rumor that Durant might leave this season.
Will Kevin Durant leave the Phoenix Suns?
NBA fans have been raising questions about whether he could leave Arizona this year. The main reason for that would be how Durant has changed franchises often in the last few years in the hunt for his third NBA championship ring. It didn’t work out with the Brooklyn Nets, and it hasn’t worked out with the Suns as well.
But all signs indicate that Durant will stay with the team for the next season. In the postgame interview after the Wolves loss, 2x NBA champ mentioned that the goal will be to work with the team in the summer and improve on their weaknesses. That could certainly mean that he’s looking to stay with the Suns. However, as we all know, the NBA has been fairly unpredictable in the last few years, and although there’s a slim chance, Durant could still be looking to find another home.
