As the NFL game week 9 clash against the Arizona Cardinals draws closer, the availability of Deshaun Watson remains up in the air. Watson, the Cleveland Browns quarterback, has been out with a shoulder injury for quite some time now. However, with the game against the Cardinals knocking on the door, Cleveland fans have become unhappy with Watson.
During a recent interview today, Deshaun Watson offered an update about his return to reporters. However, to the utter dismay of the Cleveland fans, Brown admitted that he’s “not sure” of playing against the Cardinals. The Browns quarterback has missed three of his side’s last four matches. Despite having a cameo appearance against the Indianapolis Colts, Brown retired early from the match after completing just five passes.

Moreover, Watson’s absence has further worsened the Browns’ woes this season. The Browns have four and lost three of their seven matches this season. Watson had a strong start to the season, completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 678 yards. He also registered four touchdowns and two interceptions. However, as the speculation about Watson’s injury continues, the Cleveland fans haven’t shied away from expressing their disappointment.
The fans have taken to social media platforms to express their resentment, with one user even writing, “Should’ve gone on IR after Week 3. What a mess.” Despite Watson returning to practice ahead of the Cardinals game this Sunday, it is expected that backup quarterback P.J Walker will start the game. While replacing Watson, Walker has registered 48 out of 97 attempted passes for 618 yards and has one touchdown against five interceptions (via ESPN).
How did Deshaun Watson get injured?
Back in September, Deshaun Watson hurt his shoulder during the Cleveland Browns 27-3 win against the Tennessee Titans. It was reported that Watson had strained his rotator cuff and was struggling with his shoulder’s mobility. Moreover, while Watson’s injury was more common among pitchers in baseball, he should return within four to six weeks.

However, despite Watson not regaining full fitness, he did play against the Indianapolis Colts last month. However, coach Kevin Stefanski’s decision backfired as Watson had to retire taking a hard blow to his shoulder. While Watson’s return remains uncertain, it’s too early to tell whether Stefanski’s decision to rush Watson’s return hurt the Browns’ long-term interests.
