Tom Brady is undoubtedly one of the greatest players if not the greatest to have ever graced the National Football League (NFL). The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots quarterback is unarguably the most successful player in the league. The man has won 7 Super Bowl rings! There’s nothing more to say.
Tom Brady announced his retirement in 2022 but then made a surprise comeback for one last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After announcing his retirement, Brady decided he still had enough gas left in him for another season and made a U-turn after just 40 days. However earlier this year on 1st February, Tom Brady finally decided it was time to hang his boots to put an end to his illustrious career.
Back in May 2022, Fox Sports had signed a deal with Tom Brady. The deal which is worth $375 million for a 10-year contract for Tom Brady to join the Fox Network as their top NFL analyst following the end of his playing career. After Brady signed the deal, he became the highest paying NFL analyst even before doing a single show!
Tom Brady taking a year off before joining Fox Sports
As per the terms of the contract, Tom Brady was supposed to join Fox Sports immediately after the end of his career. However he has decided to take a break this year before starting his new journey. He will be joining them in 2024. Speaking about his new challenge on the Let’s Go podcast with Jim Gray, Brady said he was very excited to see the game from a new perspective. Till now he had spent it as a player, but now he will be watching it as a spectator.
“I was very blessed to play for as long as I did, and I loved it,” Brady said. “Now I get to see other guys do it, and I also get to see football from a different perspective. I’ll be on Fox next year, so I have a chance to really sit back and watch and learn a different career.”
As for Fox Sports this deal will be greatly profitable for them. Having one of the biggest household names in the US, will rapidly increase their viewership and revenue. They had said last year that through this agreement Tom Brady will be covering the biggest game alongside Kevin Burkhardt.
“Over the course of this long-term agreement, Tom will not only call our biggest NFL games with Kevin Burkhardt, but will also serve as an ambassador for us, particularly with respect to client and promotional initiatives,” Fox Sports said last May.
