SUMMARY
- Deadpool made its debut at the Super Bowl eight years ago.
- As the world gears up for another Super Bowl, the trailer for Deadpool 3 is likely to be launched as well.
The Super Bowl is the theatre where Titans clash every year for the ultimate glory. While it is a spectacle in its own right, the Super Bowl has also become a platform for the arts. As pop stars light up the half-time show, it also becomes a launchpad for upcoming releases, especially for big franchises. Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool trailer was released at the event, and it went on to become a massive success.
Based on the Marvel character, the movie tells the origin story of the mercenary, Wade Wilson. Wade underwent rogue experiments that left him disfigured but endowed him with the power of accelerated healing. Deadpool becomes his alter ego, and he goes after the person who ruined his life. Rated R, Fox marketed the movie aggressively from the get-go.
A suited-up Reynolds was a recipe for a blockbuster. Moreover, the action and violence of the film complemented the action and mayhem of professional football. No wonder when the final trailer dropped during the Super Bowl, it broke the internet.

Super Bowl gears up for Deadpool once again
The Super Bowl is the hottest night for football fans, and about 100 million people are expected to tune in this year. There is no bigger stage to drop a trailer for the studios.
The pandemic has hit the box office hard, and many studios will run ads for their upcoming releases. Disney is likely to promote its summer tentpoles, with Deadpool 3 seeming to lead the pack. Among other films, trailers for A Quiet Place: Day One and Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning are likely to drop as well.

As the Chiefs battle it out with the 49ers, so will the studios. Disney will be up against their competitors, Paramount and Universal, and buying an ad will not be cheap. A prime spot for 30 seconds can go for as much as $7 million this year.
What we know about the movie so far
Ryan Reynold will return as the titular character in the third installment of the franchise. He will team up with Hugh Jackman, who will be back on the screen as Wolverine.
Several cameos are lined up for the new film, and some familiar faces will return. Additionally, Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and others are set to reprise their roles. The film also features two new additions: Emma Corrin of The Crown and Matthew Macfadyen of Succession.
The synopsis suggests that Wolverine will come across the Merc with a Mouth. An unlikely pair, the duo will then strive to save themselves and their legacy in the process. Shawn Levy has directed the third installment of the movie, which will hit theatres on July 26, 2024.
