UFC 299 has just gone down this past weekend and fans are still discussing the events and implications of what took place. Amid all the noise, the trolls active as ever, trying to spread misinformation as always. Unfortunately, under the guise of an injury to Marlon Vera, Michael Bisping became an unlikely victim.
For the most part, former UFC middleweight champion and now a color commentator and analyst Michael Bisping is getting increasingly active on social media. Utilizing the growth of his Twitter and Instagram, the Englishman also started his own YouTube channel, amassing more than 600,000 subscribers.
However, many have used his naivety to often troll him during his livestreams. Commenting under and using made-up names that sound similar to profanity and derogatory language, the 45-year-old has often been tricked for the amusement of fans. As it turns out, Bisping, fresh from his hot mic incident, has had something similar happen to him once again.
Michael Bisping gets trolled over Marlon Vera’s ‘X-ray’
Following his loss to Sean O’Malley at UFC 299, there was a lot of concern for Marlon Vera. On the night, the title challenger fell short of expectations and was thoroughly dominated by O’Malley in their five-round contest. Having been on the receiving end of an absolute shutout, Vera took what was probably the worst beating of his career.
Notably, ‘Chito’ was also absent from the post-fight press conference, with reports suggesting that he had been transported to the hospital. One of the main highlights of the fight was when Vera took a knee from O’Malley, flush to his face. As such, a fan posted Evangelista ‘Cyborg’ Santos’s fractured skull X-ray from 2016, labeling it to be Marlon Vera, which caught Michael Bisping’s attention.
Respect to @chitoveraUFC one of the toughest fighters and a great human. https://t.co/8s4o3ytDPA

Well this is one time I could not be happier to be trolled. Was worried for my mate there. https://t.co/kmvSolCjIj

As such, the Englishman would then go on to commentate on it, before realizing that he had been duped. With that said, Bisping revealed, “Well this is one time I could not be happier to be trolled. Was worried for my mate there”. Thus, he happily accepted being trolled if it meant Vera was not injured the way trolls suggested.
Michael Bisping is good friends with Marlon Vera
For the most part, many may be wondering why Michael Bisping was showing so much concern for Marlon Vera to begin with. Considering the events earlier in the week, it was not the first time that Bisping had taken up the topic of Vera. As it turns out, Michael and ‘Chito’ Vera have the same boxing coach Jason Parillo, who was key during the Englishman’s career.
Coming into fight week, former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling claimed sources have told him that Vera had a tough camp and will not be 100% in his fight. Considering his ties to ‘Chito’, Bisping chose to investigate the matter. “I know somebody, over at Chito’s camp, I know Chito myself, but (also) his head coach Jason Parillo”.
As such Bisping revealed, “Parillo was laughing his head off. He said ‘No he (Chito) did not have a bad camp. In fact, he sent me some of the footage. Let me tell you right now, Chito Vera is looking like a nasty b*****d. He’s knocking people out in training”. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned for Chito, but should he recover properly and take adequate time, he will back to cause chaos in the division.
