SUMMARY
- Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion Canelo Alvarez will fight Jaime Munguia on May 4.
- Ahead of the fight, Canelo opened up on how he fell in love with boxing.
Canelo Alvarez is one of the best boxers in the world currently. He is coming off wins against Jermell Charlo, John Ryder, and Gennady Golovkin. He is all set to fight during the Cinco de Mayo weekend when he takes on Jaime Munguia on May 4 inside the T-Mobile Arena. Munguia, who is a fellow Mexican boxing superstar, is set to challenge Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for the undisputed super middleweight championship.
The fight will be available for fans worldwide to watch on DAZN PPV. With two Mexican fighters going head-to-head, there is a lot of excitement for the fight. Ahead of the contest, Canelo appeared for a fun segment with the broadcasters, DAZN. During the segment, the 33-year-old had to finish the sentences given by the interviewers. In the segment, a question arose about his earliest boxing memory.
Answering that question, Canelo added, “My earliest memory is when I see my brother Rigoberto getting top pro. And then when I realized I wanna be a boxer and I fell in love with boxing.”
Fans can thank Canelo’s elder brother Rigoberto Alvarez for his interest in boxing. Rigoberto is not as successful as Canelo with a record of 27-4. His last fight came in 2011, which he lost to Anthony Mundine via unanimous decision. The 46-year-old retired from boxing after the contest. Other than Rigoberto, Canelo has two other brothers, Ricardo Alvarez and Ramon Alvarez.
Canelo Alvarez reveals the biggest fear of his life
The idea that Canelo Alvarez is afraid of anything, does not sound right. He moved up in weight and challenged the WBA (Super) Light Heavyweight Champion Dmitry Bivol, who is one of the scariest boxers at the moment. It just proves that Canelo will go to any length to achieve greatness and he is fearless. However, during the segment with DAZN, the Mexican fighter proved that he is human and revealed the biggest fear of his life.
He said, “My biggest fear could be not love any more boxing.”

It’s a fitting answer, coming from someone who has dedicated his entire life to boxing. So it does look like he is still hungry to win more and the Guadalajara native is not planning on stopping anytime soon.
What is next for Canelo Alvarez after the Jaime Muguia fight?
As previously mentioned, Canelo Alvarez will be fighting his fellow Mexican fighter Jaime Munguia on May 4. This will be the first time two Mexican fighters will fight for all four belts. However, Alvarez is a big favorite to win the bout, as he has been for most of his career. So what is next for Saul Alvarez if he wins this Saturday? There are potential fights against Jermall Charlo and David Benavidez available for him.

However, it does not look like Alvarez wants to fight Benavidez. Canelo added, “I always fight with everybody and always with the people they say I do not want to fight. I’m always involved in those kinds of fights and right now I’m in the position, I can do whatever I want, and I do not want to give that opportunity to him (Benavidez) because he brings 20lbs more than me on fight night.” (h/t via Big Fight Weekend)
