A prominent member of the basketball community recently decided to fire shots at Giannis Antetokounmpo for his recent statements regarding his future with the Milwaukee Bucks. To those who do not know, the Greek Freak caused quite a lot of commotion among the NBA media and fans by indicating that he would leave the Bucks unless they were all on the same page and prepared to make sacrifices to win an NBA title.
Additionally, the Bucks star also made it clear that he wanted Milwaukee to surround him with more talent in order to maximize his chances of winning another championship in the near future.
While all of this sounds good on paper, ESPN’s Shannon Sharpe pointed out something very important that many fans have overlooked. With that being said, let us take a closer look at the accusations he leveled against Antetokounmpo and find out more.
Why did Shannon Sharpe call out Giannis Antetokounmpo?
Over the past few years, Shannon Sharpe has been a rising figure among the NBA media and gained a lot of recognition for his clever and witty takes. Since he used to be an NFL star, Sharpe understands the mindset of today’s professional athletes much better when compared to the other members of the media. He put his intellect on display with his recent statements about Antetokounmpo.
To the few who might not know, Giannis has two brothers who play alongside him on the Milwaukee Bucks. Fans might already be familiar with Thanasis Antetokounmpo. More recently, Milwaukee also decided to sign Alex Antetokounmpo and add him to the roster. Sharpe found these actions to be contradicting Giannis’s desire to surround himself with talent and viciously attacked him for it.
“And you got a new coach. H*ll he’s just getting there give him a chance. You gave Mike Budenholzer a chance and you got your brothers occupying two roster spots. Are we gonna talk about that? You know good and well Giannis that your brothers probably not going to be playing for any other team in the NBA except Milwaukee and that’s only because of you so you keep talking about surrounding you with talent…there’s two spots that’s been occupied by your brothers.”

NBA fans really can’t find much reason to fault Shannon for his take on the situation. If Giannis truly wanted the Bucks to have more talented stars on the roster, pressurizing them to sign on both his brothers and pay them would undoubtedly prevent that from happening.
