Miles Bridges has been dealing with a lot of drama off the court since last year. The forward was charged with felony domestic violence after injuring his partner in front of their children. Based on this, Bridges served a long suspension and several fans believed that he should never set foot in the NBA again. Miles has been cooperative in every way possible, which also helps the NBA build trust with him.

Based on the issue at hand, Bridges was slapped with a 30-game suspension. He missed out on the entire 2022-23 season and 20 games were served last season as well. After returning, Miles has already appeared in seven games with the Charlotte Hornets. The NBA is currently working on rebuilding trust while the proceedings continue off the court.
Miles Bridges may not get re-signed by the Charlotte next season
Miles Bridges is currently under contract with Hornets that he signed before the start of the 2023-24 season. He was offered a one-year $7.92 million deal which makes him an unrestricted free agent after this season. Jake Fischer, a well-known journalist of the NBA recently shared his views on Bridges making it back to the roster next season. Bridges is currently walking on thin ice and his career is still in jeopardy at the moment.

Fischer said, “They only have one year with Miles Bridges. All of his off-court stuff aside, talking about this strictly from a basketball standpoint. When he signs the qualifying offer and is going into unrestricted free agency, there’s not a lot of confidence or expectation around the league that he is going to be back in Charlotte next year.” Fischer noted that the Hornets are being rumored to be in “seller mode”. They may not bank on Bridges as his legal situation hasn’t been fully sorted out.
Miles Bridges addressed his season debut with the Hornets
Miles Bridges has played seven games and is currently averaging 20.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. However, the Hornets have not had a great start this season. They are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 6 wins and 11 losses. This isn’t a great look for the Hornets but hopefully, Bridges can elevate them with his impressive statline.
After his return, he said, “I know a lot of people feel some type of way about me being back, and I understand that. It’ll be a while before I gain their trust back. So, I’m just going to go out there and play. If I get us some more wins, people’s perspective will change.” Right now, Miles is focused on helping LaMelo Ball and the rest of his squad to win. They have had a couple of good victories since his return. Miles isn’t a bad player but his uncertain future is what might cripple the Hornets.
