It doesn’t seem like the drama surrounding Miles Bridges will come to a halt anytime soon. Unfortunately, things have been getting out of hand lately and there is no guarantee of a long future in the NBA for him. The Charlotte Hornets signed a new contract with the forward worth $7.9 million over the next season. This qualifying offer will restrict him from being traded until December 2023. The upcoming season will mark his return after missing the 2022-23 campaign.
Bridges missed the entire season as he was being investigated over domestic violence accusations. According to multiple reports, he was accused of physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Mychelle Johnson in front of their two children. He eventually pled no contest to the charges, basically accepting conviction without pleading guilty. As a result, the court put him on three years probation (no jail time).

Miles Bridges also had a domestic violence protective order placed against him for ten years. In addition to this, he was asked to go through 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and parenting classes. He was ordered to stay 100 yards away from Johnson at all times and complete 100 hours of community service. Bridges isn’t allowed to use narcotics or weapons and ammunition of any sort. The NBA also issued a 30-game suspension last season with 20 games already served.
Miles Bridges violated a domestic violence protective order placed against him
Recently, Miles Bridges violated the domestic violence protective order placed against him. Sources claim that he was issued a criminal summons which stated that he was accused of throwing billiard balls at his ex-girlfriend’s car. The summons stated that Johnson and his children were in the car that had a broken windshield and multiple dents on it after the attack. This incident took place during a custody exchange at his residence.
According to ESPN, the Hornets forward was booked for violating the order, misdemeanor child abuse, and damage to private property. The summons further claimed Bridges threatened Johnson that he would withhold child support and take everything from her. His current girlfriend was also allegedly involved in the incident as she charged at the car Johnson and the children were in.
Miles Bridges will have to attend a hearing on November 13, 2023, at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse in Charlotte. Bridges already had an unserved arrest warrant from earlier this year that only came into effect after the incident took place on Wednesday. The NBA player hasn’t appeared for the preseason and is expected to serve the remainder of his suspension (10 games) before returning.
