According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and the county clerk of court, Charlotte Hornets forward, Miles Bridges, faces an arrest warrant in connection with a prior domestic violence incident. Noticeably, the warrant has been issued due to a violation of a protective order and not because of the new allegations of physical assault.
Details surrounding the warrant, issued in January, remain limited as deputies have been unable to serve it. Additionally, this week has brought new legal trouble for Bridges. As reported by WSOC-TV, the 25-year-old NBA player allegedly violated the protective order when he appeared at the residence of his ex-girlfriend, Mychelle Jhonson.

He is accused of throwing billiard balls at her car, damaging the windshield, and threatening her in the middle of a custody exchange on Tuesday. The seriousness of the charges is increased due to children being present in the car when the damage happened, leading to an additional child abuse charge. The ex-girlfriend, who shares multiple children with Bridges, has been negotiating a custody dispute with him.
Miles Bridges’ past legal challenges and his probation terms
The legal battles for Bridges are nothing new. Last year, he found himself involved in controversy following allegations that he attacked the mother of his children in front of them. In response, Bridges responded by pleading no contest in November 2022.
Later, he was sentenced to a three-year probationary period. Additional requirements included following a ten-year-long criminal protective order in favor of the victim, undergoing weekly drug tests, and paying the victim’s compensation, as directed by the district attorney’s office.
In a public statement three months ago, Bridge expressed regrets over the investigation’s repercussions highlighting the “pain and embarrassment” it caused. He had missed the previous season of the league due to the Investigation.
Despite the setback, Bridges managed to secure a one-year contract worth $7.9 million with the Hornets. This time, he promised to fix strained relationships with his colleagues and to get more involved with the Charlotte community.

The NBA had decided to suspend Bridges for 30 regular-season games. However, due to his absence in the previous season, the league gave him credit for 20 of those games, resulting in a 10-game suspension.
His stats before the suspension showed he had improved a lot professionally, particularly while playing with All-Star point guard LaMelo Ball he averaged 20.2 points and seven rebounds per game. Charlotte Hornets, when approached for a comment, confirmed their awareness of the ongoing developments and stated that they intended to look into the situation more thoroughly.
